On Saturday September 7th, as part of GSI’s recent trip to the Canadian Prairies, our team was honored to be a guest of Ocean Man First Nation at their 2024 Pow wow. This special event marked the 150th anniversary of the nation’s sovereignty and self-determination for their inherent rights and preserved cultural identity through Treaty 4. This was a truly inspiring event for GSI to participate in, providing our team with a glimpse into the cultural identity, rich traditions and proud heritage of Ocean Man First Nation. Chief Connie Big Eagle and her community were gracious hosts throughout the event and our team was moved to be included in the Grand Entry Ceremony on Saturday. GSI is proud to partner with Ocean Man First Nation on our Iyuhána Solar project, and we look forward to continuing this meaningful collaboration to build a sustainable future for generations to come. This past week, members of the GSI team were part of an unforgettable trip to the Canadian Prairies, future home of our Iyuhána Solar project. This project, a GSI led partnership with Ocean Man First Nation, will see the development, construction and operation of a 100 MWac facility under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with SaskPower.   Iyuhána Solar, which will power the equivalent of 25,000 homes, will be Saskatchewan’s largest solar project and amongst the top 10 largest contracted solar projects in Canada.   On Thursday September 5th, our team held the first Community Open House for the Iyuhána Solar project. The event, hosted at Southeast College Saskatchewan’s Estevan Campus, provided an excellent platform for our team to engage with the local community while sharing critical updates on the development of this facility.   Additionally, while in Saskatchewan, members of the GSI team toured the future Iyuhána Solar project site with local representatives from the RM of Estevan, marking an important step forward as we continue to collaborate with the local community regarding Iyuhána Solar.   GSI is grateful for the positive relations and engagement with both the RM of Estevan and the City of Estevan as we progress through the development phase of this foundational renewable energy project.

For August’s project profile, we are highlighting our Middleborough Solar Project, a 1480 kW DC rooftop solar facility located in Middleborough, Massachusetts. This project, also known as Cranberry Solar, reached commercial operation in December 2016 and operates under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Middleborough Gas & Electric Department. Additionally, the project participates in Massachusetts' SREC II program, enabling the sale of renewable energy certificates. GSI is proud of the Middleborough Solar Project and its role in advancing our commitment to sustainable energy solutions to foster a more sustainable environment for future generations.
