Today, I got to see my ELEVATE colleague Dr. Noel Cass be part of the FullyCharged.SHOW & Everything Electric #North Panel: Mainstreaming Micromobility, alongside chair Helen Czerski, and panel members Jack Scarlett and Andy Shrimpton During the panel, Helen Czerski asked about how we get people to actually utilise micromobility... what's the dangling carrot to get it to be more mainstream? Noel Cass said that one of the biggest things that could help make #emicromobility more mainstream is to transform the transport system: “You don’t justify building a bridge by counting the number of people who swim across the river...Traditional transport planning says, ‘oh there are lots of people driving, so we need to build more car space’... If you’re trying to transform the transport system, that really doesn’t make sense." Instead, Noel Cass said, “you need to build [the transport system] so that people will then feel more able to use the alternatives and actually get into town quicker.. you need to make it a viable alternative.” Noel Cass also argued that what is needed is a reconsideration of how we think people behave: “People aren’t just robots who operate on mathematical models on what is the quickest, easiest, and cheapest” way to get somewhere. Rather, “people do what they did yesterday and what everyone else is doing. So, it's a matter of changing social norms and culture.” Was a great session to witness.. We were delighted that so many people joined us in celebrating our anniversary at our #Anniversary #Congress. Exclusively invited business partners such as EKS InTec GmbH and Ciratec bv, key customers and suppliers celebrated FFT's 50th anniversary with us. The congress opened with the premiere of our new anniversary film (coming soon on LinkedIn). Our Managing Director Tristan Pfurr then welcomed the numerous guests and took them on a journey through the last 50 years in his presentation "We are writing history". Frank Eilers, a renowned expert on digitalisation, AI and New Work, gave a captivating keynote speech on "The Changing World of Work". With his in-depth expertise, he took the audience on a journey into the current developments and challenges of the modern world of work. Our COO Volker Stark and Lucas Schwierczinski gave two further keynote speeches on FFT's service and #product offering. They were joined by Marco Bizjak, who explained why data is the oil of the future and how it can be used in modern plant engineering. A team of experts in gluing and filling technology demonstrated the versatility of FFT's solutions together with its partner company FeRe with Heinz Kurosch and Stefan Langels for final assembly. Between the two seminars, Enno Däneke provided exciting insights into the potential and opportunities of the #mobility revolution and explained why e-mobility will definitely be the drive of the future. China stands out as a leading market, and battery #electric drives are also the dominant type of city bus drive in many countries. Autonomous driving is also being tested and developed in countries such as China and the US, with commercial fleets of #autonomous vehicles already in use. At the end of a successful first day, all participants met at the Grillrestaurant Kneshecke to reflect on the day. With delicious food and a relaxed atmosphere, there was no shortage of networking opportunities. Guest speakers Hannah Scheerer and Marlon Philipp spoke about digital ecosystems for a sustainable circular economy in the automotive industry and provided impetus for the future development of #sustainable business models in the mobility sector. This was the perfect introduction for Patrick Gerhardt to talk about the sustainable use of #CFRP #lightweight components in plant engineering and the potential savings that can be made by using lighter and stronger structures over the entire life of a plant. After a final round of seminars, the speaker team consisting of Dr. Joachim Scheller, Tobias Hohmann and Kuno Jandaurek gave the last keynote of the congress and an insight into FFT's research and development work, before Tristan Pfurr brought the congress to a close.
