The HOTSEAT is the reason why no-one falls asleep or hits that energy low the half hour after lunch at our 90 Day Action Plan GrowthClub. What is the HOTSEAT? In short I divide my business owner clients into groups of 4 or 5. Each person gets a max of a minute to sketch a challenge they want input on, and then for four minutes the rest of their group offer suggestions. Here is the trick though. Once you've outlined the challenge you want input on, YOU HAVE TO SHUT UP You can NOT say .... I tried that already .... That doesn't work in our industry You have to keep quiet and be open to the suggestions. And that is the magic of the hotseat. Thank your Karie Kaufmann for introducing me to it. Things I've learned freelancing with a global drinks consultancy agency: 1. The drinks industry is global, stretching passed our own experiences of how we enjoy drinks. It's fascinating to learn how different countries have unique drinking cultures and rituals that completely change their needs and wants as a consumer. 2. Bartenders / Bar owners / general bar staff are trend experts. They have an insane amount of knowledge on consumer behaviours and rituals. They know more than most about new habits forming and patterns emerging and can unlock the insight alcohol brands need to grow. 3. The industry is hugely innovative - keeping up with the demand to make products more sustainable, more convenient, affordable, lower in ABV, higher in quality, lower in calories... the list goes on. Although it is sometimes overlooked, the industry is hugely creative and brands are constantly adapting their strategies to align with advancements in digital and technology to stay relevant.
