In partnership with Griffin Catalyst, Miami-Dade County, and the Knight Foundation, the Miami-Dade Innovation Authority tackles local challenges to ensure South Florida continues to develop as a hub for innovation and technology. The first challenge MDIA is taking on? Finding novel and sustainable ways to repurpose floating mats of seaweed that wash up on beaches during the summer and costs millions to remove. Today, in celebration of World Nature Conservation Day, we reinforce the crucial role that cork oak forests play in sustainability. The Rio Frio Estate is an example of the profound connection between cork oak forests and sustainability. It showcases the innovation and deep respect we have for these ecosystems, embodying the true spirit of this day. And that's why we created the Forest Intervention Project - a program designed with the purpose of enhancing our forests and our raw material – cork -, dedicated on deepening the knowledge about the resistance of cork oaks, promoting the sharing of technical knowledge about the activity and enabling the planting of more than one million trees on our properties. Through these initiatives, we increase carbon capture and boost the sustainability of the cork oak forest and its ecosystems. These forests not only provide the raw material for our products but also support biodiversity, combat climate change, and sustain local communities. Let’s cherish and protect these invaluable ecosystems every day. Together, we can make a difference. Scaling positive impact through innovation | Chief Client & Product Officer, Board Member | Adjunct Professor at LUISS Business School
Why you do things drives how you do things. This time to stop & think has been vital for generating ideas, sharing the insights that will shape our direction and re-set our focus on what can further accelerate our positive impact. #climatetech #startups #innovation
Stop and Think. We gathered in Tuscany with our entire team a few days ago, surrounded by the beautiful landscapes that inspired us to move forward. We paused to reflect on our journey, acknowledging our efforts and achievements, and began mapping out the route for the months ahead to build the Green Future Project we envision. Each GFP member plays a vital role in our mission. Yet, it’s the synergy of our efforts that truly leads us to make a positive impact on this journey, socially and environmentally. It all began in 2020 by our founder and CEO, Pietro Pasolini dall'Onda, and it has gradually evolved, attracting bright minds along the way and shaping us into the Green Future Project Team we are today. #GreenFutureProject #Team

I help identify and implement creative sustainable solutions to improve the environmental impact of products and businesses. Sustainable Design | Sustainable Strategy | Sustainable Education @(better)labs
It was my pleasure to join Ella Mary Taylor on the next episode of the EcoSparks podcast to chat about Design for the Circular Economy (hint: not just drawing circles!) and my journey with (better)labs! Some of the highlights included: ♻ How the circular economy is more than just recycling, and some well known examples. 💘 Emotional durability and how circular design can create products which encourage us to cherish and maintain them for longer. 📋 A few tips I've learnt along the way for young change-makers and future leaders to get into sustainability related fields (although I still have a lot to learn myself!) And one failure: ☕ Discussing reusable products while sipping coffee from a single use coffee cup 😇 It certainly *sparked* some great sustainability-focused topics and can't wait for the episode to be released soon! #circulardesign #sustainability #podcast
👀 A BTS snap of Shangjie Zhang and Ella Mary Taylor after recording an upcoming EcoSparks Episode with Tim Binnion, Founder of (better)labs and Circular Designer! Tim was notably one of the first to combine product design and engineering fields with sustainable and circular innovation in China. This combined with his many years of experience working in China and creative perspective make this session one to look out for in April!

The power of partnerships 🤝 and to Exchange for Change! A very special occasion at Living Places Copenhagen, framed by the brilliant Nadja Pass as salonniére for Concopia Conversations, and fueled by the eminent Stephanie von Meiss, where 50 pioneering stakeholders exchanged ideas on aligning the built environment more with nature and its biodiversity, planting many new collaboration seeds 🌱 The key takeaways were need for more: - Accountability - Courage - Systemic Change and that professionals should talk to 5 people who are not in the know of what to change and why, creating a movement and trust in both the problem, as well as the solutions, which we have already. We "just" need to scale them! 🍀 The conversations - and questions - continue ☀
What is the future of regenerative living? 🌿🏘️ Along with The Klosters Forum and Concopia, we invited experts in the built environment to an interactive gathering aiming to build a stronger alignment and symbiosis with nature and biodiversity. This 'Exchange for Change' explored building innovations for regenerative living with panelists, speakers, and pioneers like Rasmus Nørgaard, Victoria Burrows, Michael Ramage and Kathrin Susanna Gimmel working to accelerate and change how we build, value, design, and think about buildings, cities, and communities.

🚀 ERRIN’s Astrid Hannes participated in the European Circular Innovation Valley Kick-off, where 9 #EURegions, including seven #ERRINmembers, are embarking on an exciting Circular Regional Innovation Valley (#RIV) journey for the next 5 years! 🎯 The RIVs will foster interregional collaboration within the EU, transforming value chains with a mission-oriented approach. This interregional ecosystem will lead the way in delivering innovative circular solutions to market, addressing the challenges of circular transformation across up to ten industrial value chains. 💡 A competitive call for interregional circular innovation projects will soon be launched, opening up new opportunities for agents and interest groups within innovation ecosystems to connect and co-create solutions. ♻ As Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI) Community Manager, Astrid highlighted how stakeholders can leverage the CCRI collaborative support, tap into project development assistance and engage in stakeholder dialogues, unlocking the full potential of CCRI’s resources and tools.

“The power of DSIH is to poke holes across the various silos and initiate a mindset shift to create a new direction”. This was the conclusion reached by one of the experts participating in our Mid-Term Review for the DSIH project, conducted by the European Commission. It points out exactly what DSIH was set up for. The day was filled with sharing our progress, lessons learned, methodologies, and future plans. The ‘Dutch Societal Innovation Hub’ (DSIH) strengthens interregional cooperation for a mission-driven approach in the public sector during times of fast-emerging technologies and data. Together, we are developing a strategy for digital innovation and creating an innovation infrastructure to foster active knowledge sharing and digital maturity. As part of a wider European network of hubs, the DSIH is one of the 134 European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs). These hubs play a crucial role in stimulating digital innovation locally and across Europe. Our hub is set up with 2 umbrella organizations IPO and VNG representing all local and regional public actors. DSIH comprises five regional public-private ecosystems: 🌟 Data and Knowledge Hub Healthy Urban Living 🌟 Digicampus 🌟 Municipality of Rotterdam 🌟 Urban Development Initiative 🌟 Brightlands Public Services Lab Together, we are working on responsible, people-centered solutions for societal challenges such as climate-neutral cities, healthy soil, biodiversity, and climate adaptation. We are excited to continue our journey towards a digitally mature and innovative public sector! Marije Oude Hengel Judith Geerling Nathalie Janssen
