Wow! Explains A LOT!
Stopped me in my tracks.
Thanks Holly Morris & Alex Partridge for sheding light on something thats been niggling me for years!
For as long as I can remember I've questioned how long things last (degrees, course, etc). ⏳️
Or once the dopamine rush of a new creative idea has worn off, how long will it be before I hit the crash? 💥
What happens if this idea takes off, I go full throttle, create a whirlwind and then lose the drive & let people down? 😵💫
When I was barely conscious of this, I would seek out people who could enable me to get the idea across the line, or who could deliver on a idea (& therefore less flakey than me).
Ive come to realise theres a couple of issues with this;
1) my dreams & goals are my dreams & goals. Yes, leverage other people's skills to realise your dreams BUT its a fine line between blending skills and expecting others to do it for you. And, I suspect I used the excuse to seek out 'help' as a deliberate attempt to avoid the uncomfortableness of having to do it myself. Subconsciously sabotaging the idea to stay 'safe'.
2) The idea that I can't follow through or that I have an untrainable skill gap is misguided self awareness. Someone, somewhere, at some point in time, may have said something which I chose to internalise as 'I cant'.
I looked for evidence to back this up by replaying unhelpful scenarios & tagged those memories with the label of failure, none finisher, needs help etc etc
It's a fine line between knowing your abilities so you can find complimenting skills and letting those lacking skills shame you....
As part of my mindfulness practice I remind myself everyday of my gifts of creativity and my thirst for inquiry. I'm a creator and my medium for delivery is self expression.
Managing ADHD shame & over thinking is a life long practice. My brain feels like a sandstorm of ideas. I just can't follow up on all of them.
But, whats the rush....??
Sure, i risk some ideas falling by the wayside but, my purpose is to keep creating and keep expressing.
And, what was meant to be will follow with perfect timing. ♾️😍

Standing ovation after 'world first' agreement at #COP28UAE!!
“Let us finish what we have started," said COP28 President Sultan al-Jaber, as the room erupted in applause.
"We have language on fossil fuels in our final agreement for the first time ever." He called it "historic".
The deal is not legally-binding, but calls on all countries to move away from the use of fossil fuels, for the first time in almost 30 years of COP climate summits.
New Scientist said:
“For the first time in the history of the COP process, the phrase "fossil fuels" has appeared in a climate summit agreement, as part of a promise for the world to begin "transitioning away" from the leading cause of global warming!
Fossil fuels will not be “phased out”, but the world has now agreed that we must rapidly transition away from using oil, gas and coal in order to reach net zero by 2050, in a historic moment at the COP28 climate summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

As Cop28 concludes in the UAE, we congratulate all those that worked together to achieve the historic UAE Consensus to accelerate climate action. Going forward, we will all need to play our part in converting these words into real and impactful actions. Dutch Foundations is working closely with our partners and clients to curb all emissions generated from our activities. It will be a long but rewarding journey towards Net Zero. More to come on this in the near future.

An insightful time for AtkinsRéalis at COP28 hosted in the UAE. It was great to connect with key decision-makers in both the public and private sectors, to discuss the pivotal challenges and opportunities in achieving net-zero targets.
The commitment to transition away from fossil fuels stands as a historic milestone in climate diplomacy. This summit showcased the power of unity across nations and sectors, paving the way for a sustainable future. Emphasizing tangible action over mere words, it sets a new standard in our collective climate journey.
COP28 has indeed been a turning point, reinforcing our shared responsibility to safeguard our planet for future generations.

A historic milestone today in Dubai. The UAE consensus is the first-ever climate deal on fossil fuels. Could have not been achieved anywhere else.
I am once again amazed by the UAE’s leadership, its global convening power, long-term vision and ability to deliver.

Great to see the #COP28 agreeing on a pragmatic approach of the Energy Transition!
Using the entire scope of solutions available to reduce the Green House effect
The main highlight with COP28 has been the commitment to reduce the use of fossil fuels, one commitment that I feel is not getting enough credit is the UAE Declaration on Sustainable Agriculture, Resilient Food Systems, and Climate Action.
134 countries, covering 70% of the world’s land, have signed the Emirates Declaration on Sustainable Agriculture, Resilient Food Systems, and Climate Action, committing to integrate food into their climate plans by 2025. The declaration was signed by many countries with the highest food-related greenhouse gas emissions, including Brazil, China, the European Union, the United States.
I am proud of my country Zimbabwe uniting with other countries and I can say the UAE delivered for farmers with the Agriculture Innovation Mission for Climate increasing support for agricultural innovation ad research from 8 Billion to 17 Billion to support innovation in agriculture. #COP28#uniteactdeliver#partnerships4growth
Making history From #parisagreement to #UAEConsensus.
With an unprecedented reference to transitioning away from all #fossilfuels The UAE Consensus is delivering a paradigm shift that has the potential to redefine our economies.
