Cool new tool from USDA & NPR -- see how plant 🌱 hardiness zones have shifted in your area with our warming climate 🌡. Lafayette, CO went from a 5b in 2012 to 6a, and Breckenridge, CO went from a 4b to a 5a. Useful for gardeners wanting to try new plants, but also gets the public involved in the ways climate change is shifting ecosystems: https://lnkd.in/epXz2DXE

As the effects of climate change intensify, huge high-tech greenhouses and smaller vertical farms — windowless warehouses that typically grow plants stacked in trays — hold the promise to let farmers grow almost anywhere. But all that control comes with an environmental cost. Inside these facilities, farmers are creating the perfect growing conditions with power mostly generated by burning fossil fuels, and lots of it.

Climate Land Leader Seth Watkins: "If we are serious about building a peaceful and sustainable future, we have to do two things: 1. Make our farms smaller and more diverse. 2. Create opportunities for more farmers to care for smaller and more diverse farms. Ideally these farmers should have a way to ultimately own the land they care for." Seth is practicing what he preaches. Read our blog for more. #ClimateLandLeaders
