Loving this book and learning about the widespread inequalities in perceived competence between genders. Also very interesting is mention of Queen bee syndrome which examines how women in positions of power can inadvertently perpetuate gender biases. Definitely a must read! #genderequality #theauthoritygap #queenbeesyndrome

This #CSW68 we focus on “Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective”. Poverty and a lack of income-generating opportunities for girls and young women drive child marriage in many contexts. Economic empowerment interventions support girls’ and adolescents’ ability to make and act on decisions around the control and allocation of resources. They can reduce child marriage at scale and over short time periods. Some interventions act at the household level to reduce the financial pressures that drive child marriage. Others focus directly on adolescent girls – they can work through three pathways: 1. Enhance girls’ knowledge, skills & health through economic #education & life skills or vocational #training. 2. Increase adolescent girls’ autonomy & value in the household, making work a viable option. 3. Facilitate employment opportunities as an alternative to marriage. Explore our latest economic empowerment brief, highlighting evidence-based strategies to enhance girls' economic empowerment and opportunities beyond child marriage👉 https://lnkd.in/ekJp5YKf #Research #Evidence #Brief #Economy #EndChildMarriage
