🚨We don't (usually) advise brands to use personalized codes for attribution. Here's why... The beauty and power of DM is its built-in ability to produce 1-to-1 attribution effectively. This is a real game changer and it's something that has sold more than one client on DM. 🧢 Put your customer hat on for one second, and let me ask you this; how many times have you shared a discount code you've received with someone else? Would you have any reservations about doing that if given the chance? NO! Why would you?! Share the love. But from a brand standpoint, that poses an issue. 🎩 Put your Marketer hat on now. If you have individualized codes distributed to people who aren't associated with that code and then converting, you have an issue with inaccurate attribution. So how do we at Postie coach our clients to consistent, reliable 1-to-1 attribution? It's simple: use address data. 💡 When someone who buys online and types in their shipping address is associated with a piece of DM you sent out to that same address, you can be PRETTY darn confident that your piece of male influenced the conversion.
