Traditionally Architectural design is conditioned by local environmental conditions, available resources, culture, and users' needs.
Contemporary architecture instead, often follows trends, essential construction requirements, and commercial needs of the moment, not necessarily paying attention to the bigger picture or context.
The result is a quickly aging and expensive to-maintain asset that sits in the humanized landscape, without creating valuable connections around itself.
Often the answers are hidden in plain sight, in the heritage and traditional buildings and gardens around us.
We can and need to go back to a more sensitive design approach that goes beyond the basic requirements and checklists.
