The Get Active- The Sport Strategy conference was a great success, with each presentation and discussion offering diverse perspectives and insight. ⚽ The panel session "Improving Access and Participation in Sport for All" was particularly enlightening, covering a range of important topics that underscore the significance of open dialogues and collaborative efforts in shaping the future of sport. The session featured insightful contributions from: ⭐ Juliette Inverdale , Head of Sport Participation, Department for Culture, Media and Sport, National Physical Activity Taskforce ⭐ Hitesh Patel, CEO, Sport for Development Coalition ⭐ Helen Rowbotham, CEO Access Sport, NED and Trustee, British Paralympic Association ⭐ Viveen Taylor, Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Sport England Our panellists emphasised the need to tackle inequality in activity levels and highlighted the importance of targeted strategies to ensure equal opportunities for all. The panel also discussed leveraging sports for community development, emphasising its role in fostering cohesion and promoting positive societal outcomes. Collaboration was a key theme, with the importance of partnering across sectors to fund grassroots efforts being highlighted. 🤝 Lastly, understanding barriers to participation was identified as crucial. The panel stressed the need for research to identify factors deterring engagement in sports, enabling stakeholders to develop targeted interventions and unlock the potential of active lifestyles for everyone. This marks the sixth consecutive year that SPAR has partnered with this women's soccer team, which competes in the Segunda División (Reto Iberdrola) of Spain's women's football league. Most clubs make the mistake of associating a lack of ticket purchase with a lack of interest. Lewes FC recently ran campaigns to bring this often neglected segment into the fold because they understand the power of inclusion and unity. Once again women are making history in the sports world. For the first time ever, a Serie A match had an all-female referee team. The recent match between Inter Milan and Torino was about more than just the score… (which was a 2-0 win to Inter 👀) But, it was another milestone met for women in the industry. Led by Maria Sole Ferrieri Caputi. ↳ Assisted by Tiziana Trasciatti and Francesca Di Monte. This match shows one of the many positive changes we are seeing happen in sports. As more women are being put in roles that were once closed off to them. Changes like these are: 🙌🏾 Re-shaping the future for women in sports. 🙌🏾 Expanding opportunities for women in sports. 🙌🏾 Offering women the recognition they deserve in sports. I hope that changes like these are inspiring young girls. Showing them that they are not only capable… But they belong on the field too. Hopefully, these changes for the better continue.
