Our recently started ELECTROLIFE project will provide the resources to develop models and tests for the degradation of electrolyzer systems
𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 𝗞𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳𝗳 🚀 We are happy to announce that the Joint Clean Hydrogen project ELECTROLIFE was officially launched last month during a two days kick off meeting in Turin, Italy. ELECTROLIFE is a five years project, coordinated by the Politecnico di Torino (POLITO) and compromises of a strong multidisciplinary research and innovation pillar based on eight academic/research entities (Politecnico di Torino, Uniresearch B.V., FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, Forschungszentrum Jülich, Technische Universität Graz, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, Aalborg University, Université de Lille) and industrial pillar involving nine companies and SMEs (Enel Green Power, 1s1 Energy, Stargate Hydrogen, Pietro Fiorentini, HYTER, KERIONICS, SolydEra Group, @AEA, volytica diagnostics. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮 🔑 ELECTROLIFE will demonstrate, with a dedicated design of experimental set-up and with originally developed test procedures, the feasibility of targets set by SRIA for 2030, with specific focus on degradation rate. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 📈 • Successful lab-scale demonstrators with long lasting performances, using relevant experimental methods: • Validation of multiphysics models that include multi-mechanisms degradation; • Development of SoH tool and advance prognostic/diagnostic tools for life extension; • Produce high performance techs with lower content of CRM allowing scalability and recyclability; 𝗢𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 💡 To understand the basic and cause-effect chains of aging mechanisms to overcome the limited know-how on degradation phenomena, in order to model and design stacks and indicate day- by-day operation strategies to increase the lifetime of electrolysers. We’re happy to announce our participation in #HyPRO, the largest R&D project into green #hydrogen in the Netherlands to date, with a total budget of just over €50 million. Amanda Garcia of electrochemistry and electrocatalytic synthesis represents our institute in the HyPRO consortium. It also features research by Stefania Grecea, Bernd Ensing and Joost Reek. Our institute will receive €1.6 million and employ two PhD students and two postdoc researchers to develop materials and processes for hydrogen production and purification. Adding to this, we will cooperate with our spin-off companies Elexel (led by PhD graduate Marie Brands) and Nano Hybrids (led by postdoc Olivier Lugier). HyPRO is the fourth R&D project of the National Growth Fund program GroenvermogenNL. The consortium, developed under the leadership of Lennart Van der Burg, consist of 17 Dutch knowledge institutions and 41 companies, including 17 Dutch startups. HyPRO is motivated by the urgency of the climate and energy transition. Green, sustainable hydrogen will enable heavy industry to become more sustainable and fulfil a crucial role in storing sustainable electricity from offshore wind. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eJKNKbRC
