Last week two of our staff had the pleasure of attending the graduation of the Gold Star Interns at Blind Industries and Services of Maryland. During the past two weeks, the two interns helped out at the ReStore by cleaning, restocking and organizing shelves. Thank you and congratulations to Halee and Lily!!

🌟 Three years ago, I made a bold decision – one that has reshaped the future of Net Visibility. 🌟 I chose to invest in young people. Our goal was simple but ambitious: find the brightest talent, train them the Net Vis way, and give them the kind of responsibility they wouldn’t easily get elsewhere. We built on years of experience working with young talent during A-Level and university holidays, but this time, we were aiming higher. We embarked on a degree apprenticeship programme, offering the right candidates the opportunity to gain a BSc in Leadership and Business Management whilst learning Digital Marketing at Net Visibility. Alan Hansen famously said, "You don't win anything with young people." How wrong he was! We’ve found the perfect blend of "grey hair and young flair," and it’s been a massive success. Our team is a mix of experienced industry experts (also known as the ‘old gits’ who were in marketing long before Google, Facebook, and Snapchat even existed) and the raw, infectious enthusiasm of young talent. Yes, some days it feels like running a kindergarten, but the rewards are there for all to see. Actually there is an argument that the biggest kid in the team is yours truly! This week, we proudly welcomed Millie to the team and sent Kofi off for a well-deserved holiday in Australia. Don’t worry – Tigger will be back soon, fully recharged! If you're thinking about growing your business, I highly recommend considering degree apprenticeships. It’s not without its challenges – you need to ensure everything is documented and not just stored in someone’s head – but the benefits are huge. We’ve managed large-scale Google and Facebook advertising campaigns, thanks to this powerful combination of fresh energy and seasoned wisdom. Here’s to continuing the journey, investing in the future, and proving that a mix of young people with seasoned professionals really is the key to success. 🙌 #Leadership #DigitalMarketing #Apprenticeships #Growth #YoungTalent #Mentorship #BusinessTransformation
Your feed must be full of proud parents posting their kids outside the front door on their first days back at school. We were feeling pretty left out so we thought we'd join in with our amazing Net Vis apprentices! We’re thrilled to welcome Millie Hunter to the team – it’s great to have you on board! 🎉 Bayley Fennell has been with us for 10 months now and continues to make incredible progress. We’re so proud of everything you’ve achieved so far! A big shoutout to Sophie Bateman and Kofi Miller who have both hit an impressive 3-year milestone with us. Kofi has officially finished his course (congratulations! 🎓) and is off on an exciting adventure to Australia for the next month 🌏. Soph is nearing the finish line with her course and is set to complete early next year – keep going, you're so close! We are lucky to have such an inspiring and hardworking group, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for each of you! 💪

This is what BCPS does with CCBC!
We had a fantastic time participating in this week's Baltimore County Public Schools Career Expo at Community College of Baltimore County Catonsville! It was inspiring to see hundreds (maybe thousands) of students eager to explore future career opportunities right here in our community. "Every time we invest in our students, we are at the same time investing in our communities." - Dr. Sandra Kurtinitis, Ph.D, CBCC President. With over 300 program and workforce options available at CCBC, we were proud to share the diverse career paths students can pursue in their own backyard. Events like these are invaluable for connecting students with local career and apprenticeship programs. A big shoutout to the Baltimore County government, BCPS, and CCBC for their collaboration in making this event possible!

Sunday afternoon at the 2024 ICMA (International City/County Management Association) Annual Conference, I attended an education session entitled, "Building the Bench: Strategies for Recruiting and Retaining Emerging Leaders for Large and Small Communities". The staffing, management, and leadership issues we face in Whitfield County are the same plaguing local governments across the United States. First, our workforce is older than those working in other employment sectors. Second, our most tenured employees are retiring and taking talent and institutional knowledge with them as they exit. Third, government employment is not as attractive as it used to be due to stagnant wages, declining benefits, and increasing stress. All of this makes it difficult and vital to fill our ranks replacing those retiring or leaving for greener pastures in the private sector. One solution is that used by baseball teams - developing talent through a farm system. For government that means creating a strong internship program designed to bring young, talented, altruistic people into our organizations and hopefully convince them to remain public servants throughout their careers.

Embracing the Digital Era: A Necessity for Modern Organizations General David H. Petraeus, US Army (Ret.), former Director of the CIA and commander of all forces in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, once stated, "If you get the big ideas right, the little ideas will follow." At Parachute Group our big idea is to reskill Veterans through tech-apprenticeship programs to create a technical workforce capable of closing the digital divide in 🇺🇸, and beyond 🌐 🪂 : The Digital Era, marked by pervasive technology integration, requires organizations to undergo digital transformation to remain competitive. This involves creating a digital strategy that aligns initiatives with business goals, sets clear objectives, and includes a data governance plan to manage data quality, privacy, and security. Setting and tracking Objectives and Key Results guides efforts and measures progress. Profit.co 🪂 Digital equity ensures fair access to digital resources for all, focusing on affordable devices and internet, digital literacy training, and inclusive policies. It aims to bridge the gap between different socioeconomic groups, fostering social and economic inclusion. ❄ Digital Inequity highlights disparities in access to digital technologies and skills, driven by socioeconomic status, geography, education, age, and disability. Addressing these barriers is crucial for ensuring full participation in the digital world and reducing inequalities. 🪂 Digital empowerment enables effective use of digital technologies to enhance lives. It involves providing access to digital tools, developing digital skills, and fostering an environment for innovation and problem-solving, leading to improved job prospects and quality of life. 📍 The Digital Divide is the gap between those with and without access to digital technologies and the internet, caused by economic, geographic, educational, and social barriers. This divide impacts access to essential services like education, healthcare, and employment, perpetuating inequalities. 📐 Established in 2019 in Denver, Colorado, Parachute Group is an IT Service Provider (MSP) helping businesses integrate emerging technologies like cybersecurity, cloud computing, data analytics, and digital transformation. Our mission is to drive innovation, foster growth, and pave the way for a brighter future through automation, analytics, and employee ownership. 📊 Guided by our core values—integrity, inclusivity, ethics, motivation, and candor—we deliver customized solutions that meet the unique needs of small and medium businesses.
