Bees are vital to our ecosystems and farming systems, yet their populations are facing alarming declines. In the UK alone, 13 species have already been lost, and another 35 are at risk. Without pollinators, UK farmers would face an additional £1.8 billion cost to pollinate their crops, a stark reminder of their importance to sustainable agriculture. At Habitat Regeneration, we specialise in establishing pollen and nectar flower mixes to support pollinators like bumblebees, solitary bees, butterflies, and hoverflies. These mixes provide essential food sources from late spring through summer while encouraging natural pest control near cropped areas as part of an integrated pest management approach. As an added benefit, these projects can qualify for funding under the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI), making it easier for farmers to invest in sustainable practices that enhance biodiversity and improve crop resilience.
