I engage good people doing transformational work to produce strong & resilient organizations, people and projects. I offer coaching, consulting, training, facilitation, and fractional/ interim executive services.
Agree that non-board members can serve & benefit themselves and organizations! I’ve used it and served on committees as such. It creates a pipeline of potential next gen leaders as well as offer opportunities to serve and receive expertise from people who don’t have the capacity to serve on a board at the time. Non-board members serving on committees can be beneficial to both the volunteer and the organization, taking on the role of an advisor. Here's everything boards need to know about non-board members as committee members. Read more in our members-only resource:

What local issues do the nonprofit partners in Spur Local's 2024 Class work to address? Short answer: Everything! Many of these issues are inter-connected. This year's community-based organizations preserve and elevate stories of local history, equip the next generation to be engaged civic leaders, cultivate vibrant regional food systems, and directly provide services and support across our region. Together, they work holistically to make Greater Washington more equitable, reminding us that collaboration strengthens our collective impact. Have you ever heard of a giving circle? It's a group of individuals who come together to pool their resources💰and make collective decisions about how to donate their money to charitable causes. In a word - we get to #AMPLIFY our impact. And.... as an added bonus we get the chance to network and hang out with really awesome professional women, as a member of Denver Women in Business for Good. ➕ as another bonus we get to learn about the truly amazing work that local nonprofits are doing in our community. See 👀 below to click on 🔗 links for the 3 organizations that we learned about last night. 🩷💛💚So that was the meaningful way that I spent my evening last night.... at the intersection of giving back to my community while spending time with talented & successful women. DWB is a local chapter of the amazing national organization called Grapevine. I bet there's a location near you, if this sounds like it would be your thing. Curious if anyone in my network is part of Grapevine, or has had similar experience with giving circles? Share in the comments! ✅ Pro tip: If you typically dislike networking, this is a great way to do it while being part of a greater purpose. #networking #donate #community

To transform how your community engages with you and your work, consider listening before you act. In 2019 and 2020, Mission Partners served as the messaging and communications partner for NewsMatch—the largest grassroots fundraising campaign designed to support nonprofit news in the U.S. Through research, collaborative strategizing, and community listening, their fundraising goals exceeded the years prior despite the pandemic and politically charged attacks on the free press. What might your community be trying to tell you that could drive your mission to new heights? 🔹Read more about our work with NewsMatch: https://lnkd.in/eXWx4tAX 🔹Learn more about how Mission Partners can help you build community engagement: https://lnkd.in/e-p458pc

Check out this approach to building cross-sector partnerships - a critical component of a multi-racial inclusive democracy.
With over 15 years of working with local governments and nonprofits, we have has seen many local nonprofits lead a community’s welcoming efforts. Many of these advocates have built community-wide welcoming infrastructure even when they’ve been unable to engage local government leaders. But to truly reach everyone, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠. With these considerations, Welcoming America hosted “Building a Bigger Table: An Organizing and Advocacy Learning Lab” in 2023 to equip local nonprofit leaders and other champions of welcoming with the advocacy and organizing skills needed to bring local government to the table and work together. Did you know that approximately 25% of nonprofit organizations in the U.S. do not have diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies? I thoroughly enjoyed talking to Jessica CVA MES, CVA, an expert on volunteer engagement, my time as an executive director, and the critical role volunteers played in our fundraising strategy. Check it out! From the blog: "Finally, our work is about relationships. Sometimes, we get too focused on building relationships with funders and overlook relationships with staff, volunteers, folks who are just in the neighborhood, folks down the street, the businesses across the street. These are the sustainers of the organization." Many times in our sector, we’re trying to find that rich person who's gonna give the money. This means we overlook smaller donations from these volunteers who are waiting to be engaged more deeply. It takes time, it takes a strategy, and it means making an investment." #nonprofits #fundraising #boardrelations #nonprofitmanagement
