Rumor has it that the LAX-it ride-hail lot will be moved next to a People Mover stop when that train project is completed, hopefully in January 2026 (there have been major delays already). Until then, #LAtourists are forced to walk or shuttle over to the lot – after discovering that they need to head there to catch #Uber, #Lyft or #taxis. One of the times I took the shuttle, traffic was so bad that the shuttle took longer than walking would have! Entrepreneurs, here's a problem that needs a solution more quickly than 17 months from now! Hoping someone can collaborate with #LAX and related government agencies to make one happen. #masstransit #LAXit #ridehail #LAtravel https://lnkd.in/grJ_5MkW
The trek from your plane to LAX's ride-share lot can be a nightmare. Will it be fixed?

Let's suppose for a minute that the proposed "congestion pricing" toll in Midtown Manhattan really was about reducing the amount of traffic in the busiest part of the nation's busiest city, and not just another grab at cash. Couldn't a means to that end also be found in public transit fares? For all practical purposes, I don't go into Manhattan all that often, but from both a cost and convenience standpoint, driving in is always preferable for me when I do go, even if I'm going in alone. I can find reasonable parking in a garage through the ParkWhiz app and the tolls go on EZPass. Besides that, I can listen to my music, make my phone calls, and not be bound by the train schedule. By comparison, the MetroNorth round trip fare is not all that cheap, I usually have to pay for parking at the station, and I need to be on the train's schedule. On the rare occasion that I go in with the family, there's no comparison in any regard because driving in is much less expensive altogether, and way more convenient (3 kids+ 2 adults x 25-avg roundtrip ticket+ waiting on the platform = NO THANKS). But... if public transportation in and around the city was FREE on weekends, for example? That might be enough to convince an admitted NYC driver like myself to hop on the rails instead, and if other travelers felt the same way, you may actually see less congestion in Midtown Manhattan. Anyway, bravo to MetroNorth for providing at least some free fares! Thoughts?
Week of free fares coming to Metro-North's Pascack Valley, Port Jervis lines soon
