Hamilton Education Foundation / Hamilton University School of Medicine’s Post

Establishing a new medical school is an intricate and multifaceted journey, requiring a deep dive into best practices in medical education, infrastructure, and institutional culture. Study tours of established medical schools are invaluable for gathering the insights necessary for success. These visits provide us with direct exposure to the operational, educational, and cultural frameworks that define excellence in medical education. In this spirit, the Hamilton Education Foundation recently conducted several study tours to develop Hamilton University School of Medicine. Our most recent visit took us to Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where we had the privilege of engaging with their Winston-Salem and Charlotte, NC campuses. This esteemed institution, in partnership with Atrium Health, is known for its commitment to pushing the boundaries of medical education, research, and clinical care. Their forthcoming state-of-the-art medical campus in Charlotte, slated to open in July 2026, is part of an ambitious vision for innovation districts that are set to enhance learning, drive economic development, and improve public health outcomes. Our team was warmly welcomed by Dean Ebony Boulware and her academic and administrative leaders, as well as the developers behind The Pearl: Charlotte Innovation District. We look forward to exploring how the visionary innovations of Wake Forest University School of Medicine and Atrium/Advocate Health System align with the goals of Hamilton Education Foundation, our School of Medicine, Medical Center, and Research Institute.
