It is a sad testament to the state of healthcare in New Yorks State that there are more F rates facilities in New York than anywhere else, and New York does not boast one single A rated facility. I fear the situation will only worsen especially with recent reports that there are more rural hospitals at risk of closure in New York than any other state. VIDEO. Most, if not all, hospitals create, formulate, and put together an annual or regular bi-annual, 5 year Strategic Plan. In that regard, they are not different from large and major corporations. I have read a number of hospital strategic plans and watched a number of videos they produced. They talk about about the meat and vision of their plan. Who puts together these plans? Well, some hospitals do have a hospital strategist officer, who in consultation and discussion with hospital officials and management stakeholders prepares it. In others, it's a combination of hospital officers and staff. Here is one hospital's video about their strategic plan.

When it comes to creating environments that make a positive impact on patient care, strategic capital improvements are key. HCA Healthcare’s investment in capital improvements topped $4.2 billion in 2022 for major projects, infrastructure, IT and smaller hospital-level investments, and topped more than $4.7 billion in 2023. Future plans include investing more than $5 billion in 2024. In the past year, no fewer than 120 major construction projects were completed. Improvements included multiple tower expansions, a rehabilitation service line addition at HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital, a freestanding behavioral health hospital at Live Oak Mental Health and Wellness in Ladson, South Carolina and the reopening of Forest Park acute care program at Methodist Hospital Landmark in San Antonio, Texas. VIDEO. I watch a number of videos of various Winnipeg, Manitoba, hospitals, and I learn about healthcare approaches in the province. How over the 2 past centuries the merger of 3 hospitals into Winnipeg's biggest hospital, the Winnipeg Health Science Centre, HSC for short. The Women's hospital, completely in glass so that there is a feeling of connection to the outside and the community. The biggest palliative centre in another hospital, the fireworks displays on New Year's by the Riverside Hospital, with citizens coming to see it and causing traffic lines. It is very interesting learning about hospitals across Canada in the different provinces and the different approaches and philosophies that each hospital has which is represented in the design of the hospital.
