Test update! Our tests in Drimmelen have come to an end. We've spent this time fine-tuning our height control system and making adjustments to other components of our boat to optimise its performance. Now, we're ready for our open sea tests! We've moved our headquarters to Scheveningen and will be testing our boat on the waves to prepare for the crossing ahead. Waves can be a significant challenge when it comes to foiling, as maintaining stability becomes more difficult as they get higher. Interesting development! 🙌 Ørsted and Van Oord, as part of their Ocean Health initiative, plan to install innovative droppable oyster structures at the Borssele 1&2 offshore wind farm in the Netherlands. This initiative aims to introduce European flat oysters and enhance biodiversity within the wind farm. ♻️ The droppable oyster structures, designed and tested by Van Oord and Delft University of Technology, provide an affordable and manual deployment method for oyster broodstock. The offshore wind farm's hard substrate and undisturbed seabed make it an ideal location for restoring the flat oyster population in the North Sea. This novel deployment method, utilizing small vessels, will be implemented at Borssele 1&2 starting in 2024, marking a step towards sustainable energy with positive impacts on climate and biodiversity. 🌟 #offshorewindenergy #offshorewind #renewableenergy

Thanks to the inaugural North America Agrivoltaic Awards (NAAA) for recognizing these flagship projects as finalist for the Solar Ecosystem of the Year. The empirically proven ecosystem services can be primarily credited to Jordan Macknick (Principal Investigator) and James McCall at National Renewable Energy Laborator, Sujith Ravi at Temple University, and Lee Walston and Heidi Hartmann at Argonne National Laboratory. To date, three landmark studies convened under Enel North America's partnership with NREL's InSPIRE (Innovative Solar Practices Integrated with Rural Economies and Ecosystems) project, have been published, each with unique and novel observations and results, including: monitoring microclimate, soil moisture, panel temperature, electricity generation and soil properties, also how vegetation would establish and how insect communities would respond to the newly established habitat. Day-to-day, these projects operate for the benefit of ratepayers of Xcel Energy in Minnesota, a cleaner grid, healthy ecosystem and thriving communities by (past and present) operations and ecology professionals: Jacob E Fehlen, CMRP, Eric Bjorklund, Adam Sotirakopoulos, Daren Daters, Jake Janski, and Hans van Lingen. #VoteForAgrivoltaics
