We're pleased to provide an update on the optimization of the Falchani processing flow-sheet. The unique volcanic style of lithium mineralization at Falchani, combined with low impurity content allows its flow-sheet to resemble more conventional mining/processing flow-sheets versus most hard-rock lithium projects where concentrates are produced and then shipped elsewhere for further refining into higher quality products. Falchani’s flow-sheet utilizes warm sulfuric acid leaching and impurity removal steps to produce a high-purity lithium carbonate end product on site with purity in excess of 99.5%, typically the threshold for battery-grade lithium carbonate. This helps drive the robust economics, particularly the low operating costs, highlighted in the Company’s original and recently updated Preliminary Economic Assessments. There is no need for additional refining steps offshore. Norway could redefine EU critical minerals supply chain Norwegian mining and exploration company Norge Mineraler chairperson John Vergopoulos says the discovery of a large igneous #phosphate deposit sets the company apart as a key supplier of raw critical materials for the European Union’s (EU’s) #energytransition. Norge has identified a geological system of 3.4-billion tonnes of Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant resources in Norway, confirmed by consulting firm SRK Consulting. The company is also sitting on a significant #vanadium resource, as well as #titanium. Phosphate rock is used to produce yellow phosphorous, also known as P4, through a furnace process and, further downstream, phosphorous chemicals used in agriculture, mining, and aviation, in addition to lithium iron phosphate (#LFP) battery electrolyte used in electric vehicles (#EVs). Through a separate flow sheet, a wet processing procedure on phosphate rock is used to make phosphoric acid, and eventually various phosphate fertilisers and LFP cathode, Vergopoulos explains. “There is not a complete understanding of the importance of igneous phosphate compared to sedimentary phosphate. Sedimentary is the most common form with major deposits in North Africa, Kazakhstan and China, however, given that it is formed over millennia with the accumulation of marine material, it contains impurities including carbonates, silicates and other trace elements. Igneous phosphate, which accounts for 5% of global supply, however, is formed through the crystallisation of magmatic material without the associated impurities of sedimentary rock. The Norge deposit at Eigersund has the highest purity phosphate in the world at over 96%,” Vergopoulos tells Mining Weekly. https://lnkd.in/drMhGj3J

This is an interesting comparison to Murchison Minerals' BMK (Brabant-McKenzie) deposit in Saskatchewan and Foran's nearby McIlvenna Bay deposit. Our VP Exploration John Shmyr explains how the identification of a copper stockwork zone contributed to the bulk of Foran's resource. Transcript ⤵️ [John Shmyr / VP Exploration] This is an interesting comparison. So I mentioned before, that lack of a copper stockwork zone [at BMK] and that's really driving us in our exploration. In this table, we've got the timeline of NI 43-101 resource estimates. On the left side, that's the most recent three resource estimates out of the BMK deposit. So 2008, 2017, 2018, really showing that growth – especially in that inferred resource. And in red in this table, that's massive sulphide. And then in yellow is copper stockwork. So on the right side of this table is the most recent estimates coming out of Foran's McIlvenna Bay deposit. As I mentioned, over a billion dollar market cap heading in towards production – but starting in 2006, they really focused on growing their copper stockwork. So, similar size massive sulphide horizon as the BMK deposit but they really grew that copper stockwork. And now it actually makes up the bulk of their resource. And now they've made some significant satellite discoveries with their Tesla zone. And that's really – it's really going – it's really advancing here – but that's why I like to display this chart as it really shows that that kind of similar potential. And that's why we're so excited to look for that copper stockwork zone. Because we see we can potentially add a very significant amount to our resource. Alvo Minerals Ltd (ASX:ALV) has made a major update to their MRE at the high-grade copper-zinc Palma VMS Project in Central Brazil. The updated MRE reveals a 65% increase in high-grade open-pit resources compared to the 2021 MRE. "We are really pleased to deliver such an important upgrade in size and confidence on our Palma Cu-Zn Project in Brazil. “We now have >150kt of CuEq in resources, a size sufficient to consider development options for the Project. Australia-based Vital Metals Limited announced it has signed an agreement to sell its stockpiled rare earth material to the Saskatchewan Research Council for $3 million. The sale was facilitated by Natural Resources Canada and “supersedes” a prior transaction announced in December 2023 when China-based Shenghe Resources invested in the company. The federal government previously has forced divestments by other Chinese investors in Canadian critical mineral mining firms. Vital’s stockpiled rare earth material was derived from earlier mining at the company's Tardiff deposit at Nechalacho in the Northwest Territories. Vital conducted a strategic review to investigate potential pathways for the long-term future and viability of its planned rare earth processing facility in Saskatoon. The review concluded that operating the Saskatoon facility wasn’t economically viable under the existing model, and Vital Metals assigned its Vital Metals Canada Limited (VMCL) subsidiary, which owns the Saskatoon facility, into bankruptcy with the sale of VMCL’s property and assets. Vital Metals said it will now focus on developing its Tardif deposit in the N.W.T.
