SAFETY Coordinator/Specialist NEEDED: Acadia Services is seeking a Safety Coordinator/Specialist with construction experience in the DFW area. The position requires a current OSHA 510 or OSHA 500 certification, bilingualism, and dependable transportation. This is a direct hire opportunity with a salary of $75k plus a vehicle allowance. This supervisor should go to jail, why couldn't he himself go under the suspended load? Why did he stand far away from the load, this is stupidity. I remember during my cement industry working days, some managers forced the contractor employees to work in the area full of dust without proper PPE. I stopped the job, and called for an emergency meeting with the managers. I asked them a question who gave the job to the contractor employees, no one responded. I gave them two options, to bring their families to work in the environment full of dust or to apply engineering control, make the workplace safe then send the contractor employees there. They later brought the water bowser for dust suppression, they issued proper new PPE to employees, I inspected the PPE and the workplace then allowed them to proceed working safely. I had my HSE Coordinators reporting to me but I couldn't leave this for them but I wanted to take charge because this was directly impacting people's lives, also this was a demonstration of the courageous leadership and commitment in HSE.
