Do you know about Lambay Whiskey's Distillation Process? 🥃 Irish whiskey is synonymous with triple distillation and Lambay Whiskey Small Batch Blend is produced using two forms of distillation process – Pot Still Distillation and Column Still Distillation. Each distillation helps to refine and collect the purest distillates resulting in a final spirit with a clean spicy flavour. The distillation process starts with “Pot Still Distillation” followed by “Column Still Distillation” which originated in Scotland to allow more efficient distillation of cheap whiskey. After the distillation process, we move onto the “Maturation” phase. Lambay Whiskey use first fills B1 (Bourbon Casks) to mature for a minimum of 4 years before being transferred to a Camus cognac cask. We do not usually name where the casks come from but if asked, they are sourced from the Kelvin Cooperage in Kentucky to our Distillery supplier. Kelvin Cooperage supplies bourbon barrels from renowned distilleries in Kentucky, some examples of barrels would be Jim Beam, Heaven Hill, Wild Turkey, Four Roses and Maker’s Mark. No one likes a dirty pint, and the same goes for your kegs. Regular cleaning is essential to keep your beer tasting top-notch. Here’s how: Clean the Lines: Beer lines can get gunky if not cleaned regularly. Use a suitable cleaner and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. A clean line means a clean pint. Flush the System: After changing kegs, run water through the system to clear out any old beer and residues. This helps avoid flavour contamination. Check for Leaks: Regularly inspect your keg coupler and other fittings for leaks. Any escaping beer is not only wasteful but can also cause a sticky mess.

Flat lining at pres and discussion on where to go. “In terms of future growth, cider faces a dilemma as to whether to promote the category,” said Kevin Baker, head of global beer and cider research at GlobalData. “Stressing its heritage; the use of real apples; traditional production methods etc., or to consider it as part of a wider “fruity and refreshing” RTD category. So where should the category look for future growth opportunity? “ As a craft cider maker I would suggest provenance over profit and growth but that would not be the model I think the large players would support. Beer lovers across the world should grab a beer today to celebrate World Beer Day! Did you know that beer is one of the oldest beverages in the world, having been invented before written language? Recorded accounts of beer were written in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia and spread throughout the world. But beer history says it goes back over 8.000 years. Even more surprising that the brewing process hasn’t changed much in all these years. It still consists of the same 7 steps – Milling, Mashing, Boiling, Cooling, Fermentation, Filtration and Carbonation - without electronic controls hardly any of the 10,000 to 15.000 types of beers around the world would be poured today. Measurements, dosing, ventilation, pressure and temperature control on every step, as well as the monitoring of flow, fill levels and quality - they all need memory to perform! Hailing from the American Northwest, an area rich with barley, Westward in Portland, Oregon, crafts an incredibly fruit-forward style of whiskey, and is at the forefront of the American Single Malt Whiskey movement. We always have a bottle of their Pinot Noir cask on our home bar, so picking our Heart Cut cask alongside Miles Munroe, Master Blender, was an absolute dream. As soon as we tasted this cask we knew it was the one. A quick one on American Single Malt Whiskey. In 2016, Westward helped create the American Single Malt Whiskey Commission to establish, promote, and protect the growing category and its legacy. These guidelines are currently waiting for government ratification - in the hope that they become written into law in the not-too-distant future. It's a very exciting and pivotal moment for the category - turning history on its head, craft distillers are setting the rules, and the bigger whiskey companies are following—not the other way around.
