Today we have the first in an occasional series when we ask team leaders within Granby our Super Six questions. First up, it’s our Head of Client Services and Business Development, Victoria Pittman. 1.    Can you give a very brief overview of your department's main responsibilities within Granby? We are a fully engaged and solution focused team charged with supporting existing clients. We constantly manage this performance and look to deliver continuous service improvements. 2.   Is there a specific challenge or opportunity your department is currently facing – that you can share? Absolutely there is. We have charged ourselves with raising the profile of Social Value, especially in Public Sector projects. We need to educate decision makers in SMEs and PSOs as to opportunities and processes and how to engage more effectively. This will only become more important when the 2023 Procurement Bill passes through Parliament. 3.   What do you enjoy most about the culture and environment in your department? We are a close knit and resilient team with a beautiful team spirit that shows itself most clearly when we are faced with BIG challenges. 4.   Can you share one memorable moment that made you feel proud to lead this department? Not one as there are so many. What I really take pride in is the long partnerships our team have built with our clients and the deep personal, as well as professional, connections that have grown from these partnerships. 5.   If your department had a theme song, what would it be and why? Katy Perry – Roar. Why? Because as a group we definitely have the eye of the tiger! We are a resilient bunch, and we’ll keep on keeping on until the job’s done. Every time. 6.   If your department could have a superpower, what would it be and how would it benefit the team? Everything we do, every job, every challenge we face, is ultimately about finding solutions to client challenges. I already think we are Super Solutionisers. Just wanted to give a shout out to Century Commercial Service. Their entire team, from Leadership to Customer Service to Technicians are amazing. They are knowledgeable, dedicated, friendly, and always do a great job. I remember working with them when they only did lighting when I first started out in property management around 10 years ago. Watching their company grow and being able to use them as my go to vendor has been wonderful. This video is 6 years old but full of helpful tips for contractors, anyone in sales and business leadership . I had a connection on LinkedIn contact me today to send it to him because he could not find it on my feed from 2018. Once he told me the narrative of the video I knew exactly which one he was looking for. For that reason it was easy to find it out of the 1,900 videos I have on my phone 😁. This video deals with a national account we were working on (who is still a client 15 years later) for paving and concrete and how we had lost the opportunity to work with one of the facility managers because of how bad I dropped the ball. Although we never “lost” the account- only the “facility manager”- I still looked at it as a loss even though the other facility managers continued to use us. As we begin to enter back into the national account market this video has great content and reminders. I have designed process’s so we don’t have the same issue that most national paving companies have with a major disconnect between what is “sold” to the client, what the client “thinks” is getting done and what “actually” gets done in the field. This video deals with the journey on how we did not have these process’s in place 15 years ago and how we started thereafter to put them in place for the exact reason of what went wrong on this 750k sq ft parking lot. In the last few years there has been so many new companies who have entered the national paving space but most have the same sales pitch and same outcome: a disappointed facility manager and their “boss” they now have tk answer too. This is the reason why I am very selective on the national clients I work with / will work with in my client portfolio.
