The Annie E. Casey Foundation released its 2024 Changing the Odds Comprehensive Solutions for Atlanta Future. The study examines Atlanta's data landscape post-COVID-19, growing racial disparities, practices that lead to progress, and more. Since the first Changing the Odds event in 2015, Atlanta has made considerable strides in tackling the obstacles to opportunity experienced by numerous residents of color. However, while there have been advancements, the journey toward equity and inclusion still exhibits disparities across racial demographics. Excellent analysis by my colleagues Princess Onyiri and Kate Azevedo. The picture is a bit disheartening considering (as evidenced in the analyses) that the team pulled data from companies traded on the Nasdaq that followed the SEC's guidelines and ingested useable data, making these companies somewhat of a 'model' case for board diversity. I can imagine what the board diversity (or lack thereof) might look like on companies that did not file usable board diversity data #nasdaq #boarddiversity #thefutureisfemale
Nasdaq listed companies are fulfilling their female criteria for the board of directors but lagging behind in racial and other minority demographics. With the pending Nasdaq ruling in fifth circuit, there may even be a longer wait to bridge the gap for those demographics. Since the beginning of record clearance efforts across the country, advocates, lawmakers, and stakeholders have struggled to pull together data that can illustrate policy impacts due to a lack of consistent record-keeping across states — especially data that can be broken down by different demographics.
