Last weekend I headed to Port Townsend to find the rare red-footed booby that ended up in Western Washington where it isn't supposed to be. I watched it successfully fish in Admiralty Inlet and then join the Heerman's gulls on the roof of the Marine Science Center to take a little rest. I keep thinking about how nicely it seems to fit in and how transferable that is to our own lives—how we, too, can find our place and thrive even in unexpected environments. In our professional lives, we sometimes find ourselves in situations where we don’t fit the usual mold. Maybe it’s a different industry, a new role, or a team where our background is unique. But it’s in these moments that our differences become our greatest strengths. Fitting in doesn’t mean losing your identity or conforming to expectations. It’s about recognizing the value you bring and how it complements the existing team. By staying true to yourself and embracing your distinctiveness, you can contribute in ways that others might not have imagined, driving innovation and opening new paths for success. So, if you find yourself where you weren’t expected to be, take it as an opportunity. Your unique perspective could be exactly what the team needs to soar to new heights. #Diversity #Inclusion #Leadership #Innovation #CareerGrowth #HighPerformingTeams

Crüe Club isn't slowing down...and I love Oklahoma City. Yesterday, Omar Elizondo kicked off our Leadership Power Lunches with an informative and vulnerable discussion at our Oklahoma City luncheon on "Intention and Attitude in a Consolidated Market." It was an engaging session that highlighted the importance of our networks for job hunting and deal-making, the impact of our actions on others, leadership and personal accountability, and the value of intentionality. We also hosted our first SPE Student Intern / E&P Connection mixer at Jones Assembly Hall. Where we got to meet with Joseph Alvarez and Cruz McConnell from Missouri University of Science and Technology. Cruz is interning this summer at Continental Resources, and Joseph however is already an oilman about to drill his first well with his company at Cross Oil. E&P Operators: If you're not building your networks now, you may feel lost about where to start. Crue Club can help you plug into the discussions that are driving the industry. Head to our website to register. OFS/Tech Companies: Limited membership is open! For a monthly subscription, you and your team can access our exclusive events, where you can connect and engage in uninterrupted industry conversations. Get away from the booth and join the table. Elevating the energy community connections and conversations one event at a time. #networking #energyindustry #professionaldevelopment #careerconnections #futureofenergy

Job titles serve a purpose. Titles identify roles and responsibilities within an organization. Your title is what you do, not who you are. What defines you has been part of your story since birth. You are defined by things like your values, experiences, beliefs, motivators and other influences. What defines you is bigger than any title. Titles come and go. What defines you is constant. In the serene expanse of Braunstone Park, under the guardian-like embrace of an aged tree, a single figure finds rhythm in his morning routine. It’s a dog walker, a regular perhaps, engaged in the simple yet profound act of walking his loyal friend. This image, captured in the early whispers of dawn, speaks to more than the beauty of Leicester’s cherished green spaces it’s a visual metaphor for leadership and companionship in our professional journey. In our careers, as in the walk, there are moments shrouded in uncertainty, paths enveloped in the mist of the unknown. Yet, much like the dog walker guided by the unwavering tree, we move forward, trustingly, with the assurance that clarity comes with each step taken. Today, let this scene inspire you. Be the steadfast tree in your network, offering support. Be the dog walker, leading with purpose and cultivating loyalty. Embrace the path ahead, even when it’s not fully visible, for it’s in these moments that our direction becomes clear. Join me in reflecting on the lessons nature imparts and how they can shape our approach to leadership and personal growth. 🌳 #LeadershipLessons #MorningMotivation #MindfulLeadership #BraunstonePark #LeicesterLandscapes #ProfessionalGrowth #CompanionshipInBusiness #NatureAsMentor #ReflectiveLeadership 🐾

How about this quote from one of our newest student-athlete ambassadors, Bowdoin College's Carlton Steinberg? ..... "The quote 'To achieve goals you’ve never achieved before; you need to start doing things you’ve never done before' perfectly encapsulates the lessons of personal growth. Being a student-athlete requires immense dedication, commitment, and grit to excel on the field and in the classroom. I believe the lessons we learn in the field transcend to the classroom, in our careers, and life. Among other lessons, student-athletes learn the importance of working within a team and learning how to resolve conflicts between teammates. Being able to communicate ideas, opinions, and feelings to our peers is integral to conquering adversity and achieving team goals. Cultivating an inclusive and tight-knit environment promotes camaraderie which is something I love most about being a student-athlete."

At Elevate Indianapolis, we have 7 Core Beliefs that fuel our programs: 1 - We believe that EVERY CHILD is of great worth and has the desire and potential to succeed. 2 - We believe that LONG-TERM, 24/7 RELATIONSHIPS with caring adults have proven positive outcomes in the lives of our urban youth. 3 - We believe that a HOLISTIC approach is essential for a strong and healthy future for our youth. 4- We believe that FULL-TIME, SALARIED TEACHER-MENTORS WHO COME FROM SIMILAR BACKGROUNDS as the students can have a positive influence and make all the difference. 5- We believe that SERVANT LEADERSHIP, creating a culture of selflessness and service, is the foundation for leadership. 6- We believe in the intrinsic DIGNITY of every person and act accordingly. 7- We believe that COLLABORATION yields the best long-term results, acknowledging that the complex work in our urban centers cannot be done single handedly. https://lnkd.in/gA_d9P8R
