Being on shifts when I'm struck by a surge of creativity and experimentation can make things a bit messy to say the least (don't worry, I clean up after myself of course). In my latest blog post over at Drizzl'd, I discuss the number one benefit of working with us!

FYI is 11! 🎂 I've been taking a bit of time to reflect on the early days and what came before. It's certainly been hard work the last few years but it's made us stronger and better than ever. We have an absolute dream team at the minute and it feels like we're firing on all cylinders! 🔥 Here are my personal FYI 11 highlights of the last 11 years in no particular order!.... 1.) Getting our first fork lift truck. 2.) Employing an estimator, because it was just me doing ALL the pricing.... 3.) Moving our production site to a place 2.5 times bigger. 4.) Pitching and starting to work with the biggest energy drinks brand in the World. 5.) Launching FYI Connect (Our portal). 6.) Celebrating 10 years service of two staff members. 7.) Buying our own litho press so i didn't have to spend my evenings putting together flyer runs anymore. 8.) Launching a range of brewery specific POS. 9.) Winning our first design retainer. 10.) A day out in Amsterdam with Dave Crapper 11.) Our campaign with @ingoodcompanyleeds supporting Frontline Workers and spreading joy to the streets during the pandemic. Can a manager take tips on days they're assigned as a server? ✅ Answer #2: It depends. We recommend first identifying the business's needs. Is a manager needed, or is it a shift lead? A manager has hiring, firing, and scheduling tasks and/or influence, while a shift lead typically manages tasks, not people. Purpose is thrown around quite a bit in marketing, but for The Raw Carrot and its team, it is a real, tangible concept, captured in a bag of soup. Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting The Raw Carrot's headquarters in person with the fantastic team from OneChurch.to. By selling their delicious soup, they provide dignity, community and support to those living with disabilities through purpose-filled employment. During our time with their founder, Rebecca Sherbino and their leadership team, a few things struck me: 🥕 Their team's ingenuity. Recognizing a need and creating a scalable model which they are working to replicate across the country.  🥕 Their truly entrepreneurial innovation. Stewarding their limited resources to develop new lines of income for seasons when the soup isn't in high demand (I'd say they are pros at effectuation in action).  🥕 Their care and attention to the unique needs of their staff. Be it coaching, one-on-one support, or even as simple as creating an atmosphere of calm in their kitchen. I'm genuinely inspired by what Rebecca and her team have accomplished, and I am so excited to see The Raw Carrot grow and bring purposeful employment to more people who are experiencing boundaries to employment. Because of the vast number of new connections and followers I’ve gained over the past couple of days, I’d thought I’d reintroduce myself to my network. 👋 Hi. I’m Jon Hyman. I’m a management-side labor & employment lawyer and a beer lawyer. I’m a shareholder a Wickens Herzer Panza, a boutique corporate law firm, where I chair both our Employment & Labor practice and our Craft Beer practice (which I founded). As a firm, we out small the bigs and out big the smalls. As an employment & labor lawyer, I represent businesses as outside in-house counsel to provide proactive solutions to solve their workforce problems, and as a litigator and trial attorney when employers find themselves in a dispute against an employee or group of employees. As a beer lawyer, I represent craft breweries to help them navigate their specialized business, legal, and regulatory issues. I speak at seminars all over the country on employment law and beer law issues, have appeared on dozens of podcasts, and have been quoted by the national and local press more times than I can count. When I’m asked why I do what I do, it’s because I love helping businesses. The satisfaction I receive from helping clients fix their problems so that they get it right the next time is what motivates me to do my job every day. On LinkedIn, you’ll read content from me designed to help employers become better employers. But it’s not just about “following the law.” The law, after all, is a floor and not a ceiling. Employers act as their best selves when they treat employees the way they want to be treated. If employers acted this way, 99% of issues with employees would never become lawsuits, unions wouldn’t have a reason to exist, and I’d be a full-time beer lawyer instead of a part-time beer lawyer. Personally, I’m a husband, a dad to two teenagers (Norah - 17; Donovan - 15) and a dog (Dante, a 4-year-old vizsla). In my spare time I work as an unpaid roadie for Norah’s burgeoning rock ’n’ roll career, cheer loudly at Donovan’s high school soccer games, and take Dante on endless walks in a losing effort to sap him of his vizsla energy. Finally, I was a Nov. 1999 contestant on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” but sadly lacked the fastest fingers. It’s a great story, which I’ll happily share if you just ask when we meet in real life. What does this position look like in practice? By law, the job that’s done in practice is ultimately what matters when considering whether they can take tips, not the job title itself.
