Continuing from last week's post, where I thanked @Bhavesh for letting me voice my thoughts, I'd like to provide some background. At Windy Street, after much consideration and debate, we have decided to discontinue our current Rewards and Recognition (R&R) policy. My thought process behind it: while public appreciation can benefit an individual, it often negatively impacts others. Decisions can appear biased, leading to feelings of inadequacy and resentment. Public recognition can create competition, stress, perceived favoritism, and often overlooks the hard work of those behind the scenes. This pressure can lead to burnout and a less collaborative environment. Inspired by the movie "3 Idiots," I question why we need to wait to acknowledge good work. My team should feel valued and confident without the need for public recognition. My efforts should focus on building trust and comfort, where everyone feels appreciated because their work is truly valued. While we scrapped the current policy, we want to explore many innovative ways to recognize and reward our team. I want to hear your thoughts on this. At Windy Street, we aim to be a culture-driven organization and are unafraid to accept and correct our mistakes.
