This study investigates the association between vitiligo and autoimmune co-morbidities in a US-based cohort using the All of Us database. By analyzing electronic health record data, researchers identified vitiligo patients using specific SNOMED codes. The findings contribute to understanding the link between vitiligo and autoimmune diseases, emphasizing the importance of diverse participant representation in biomedical research. #vitiligo #AutoimmuneDiseases #ResearchAnalysis #AllOfUsProgram #HealthDataStudy Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dQCTg8Xp

Attending the AD/PD conference in Lisbon this week? Our chief medical officer, Gabriel Vargas, MD, PhD, will give an oral presentation of our impressive Phase 2a data in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease patients this Sat March 9 at 17:25 UTC. CuraSen’s combination adrenergic activator, CST-2032/CST-107, achieved statistically and clinically important effects across several cognitive domains, such as memory, attention, executive function, facial recognition and impulse control — areas known to be impacted by adrenergic function. We plan to initiate longer studies with CST-2032/CST-107 in AD/PD patients with MCI later this year. https://lnkd.in/ghSxqppm #AD#PD#MCI

How do we develop more effective and personalized treatments for Parkinson’s disease (PD)? In a recent A Closer Look blog, we interviewed Dr. Abdulmunaim Eid, a recipient of a 2023-2024 APDA Post-doctoral fellowship, who is hoping to do just that by investigating three clinical subtypes of PD and understanding their biological basis. Academic Consortium member, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is dedicated to creating person-centered solutions to best meet each patient’s needs, and new research reveals an opportunity for Ohio State to lead the way in improving care for patients with sickle cell disease. Senior study author Maryanna Klatt, PhD, clinical professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, and study first author Janet Childerhose, PhD, research assistant professor of Internal Medicine, found that the most profound source of distress for these patients is the anticipation before going to and time spent at acute care centers to manage their chronic pain. Next steps include considering how clinical settings may be altered to better address and reduce patient distress.
