🎉 Exciting Announcement 🎉 Did you know that over half of all separating military service personnel would return to their hometowns if there were employment opportunities available? Sadly, Veterans often miss out on local jobs they are qualified for, and hometown employers miss out on hiring them because there's been no reliable way to connect. But today, on this special day, Oplign is changing that! We are thrilled to introduce Small Business Veteran America (SBVA), a game-changing solution designed to bridge this gap. SBVA is a real-time Optimal Employment Exchange (OPX) that matches Veterans with employers in their hometowns seamlessly. SBVA (beta) is now available for any small business looking to connect with hometown Veteran candidates in VA, NC, SC, GA, and FL. To get started, simply email us at SBVA@oplign.com with your company name and hometown in the subject header. Activation is quick, and you'll start seeing relevant Veteran candidates the same day. Best of all, SBVA (beta) is completely free for small businesses, and all Oplign products are always free for Veterans, Military Spouses, and Veteran-Students. Together, let's ensure every Veteran finds meaningful employment and is able to reconnect with their community. Help us perfect SBVA 1.0 for a nationwide rollout on January 1, 2025. With your support, we can make every hometown better by bringing our heroes back home. Stay tuned for more updates! #Veterans #Employment #SmallBusiness #Community #Oplign #SBVA Michael Grow Jeff Gibson Alex Calfee Brian Halstead Thomas Ensor Michael Floretta Mark Cullen Chris Bachmann Beau Higgins Kerri-Anne Gonzalez #Veterans #Employment #SmallBusiness #Community #Oplign #SBVA

Skillbridge companies doing things off the books, against the policy, or outside morale and ethical boundaries of business...I could name more than a few. I have filed my pressing issues that I have witnessed first hand in regards to hiring, W-2 vs 1099 and even curriculum or direct-to-hire vs working full time for a company that has offered contracts to those who are still on their skillbridge to ensure the are working 10 hour days. If you are experiencing these issues you can file also. 1. What would you make of this? 2. What would you do about it? I for one, won't stand by while DoD Approved Skillbridge affiliates hurt the veteran populations growth into a civilian lifestyle. One of the cool passion projects that I got to do at Hire Heroes USA was employer training. As a non-veteran working at a military nonprofit, I found myself advocating for veterans and promoting their transferable skills and experiences to partners and nonveteran friends. We needed a sweet and simple training that could kickstart their personal learning and discovery. There’s so much content out there, and unfortunately, it's easier to remember stereotypes. LinkedIn is one of my corporate partners (Cory Boatwright). What I love about them is that they published the Veteran Opportunity Report based on data. They published a 2023 report which addresses some common misconceptions about veterans. I love it! The myth that still lingers around, and I want to put it to rest, is about turnover. The myth is that 50% of veterans leave their first civilian job within 6 months of employment. <Buzz>…That is incorrect! In the Veteran Opportunity Report 2023, “Veterans are 27% less likely to leave” compared to their nonveteran counterparts. Retention is a common issue among companies that approach us. Based on this, doesn’t it make sense to hire a veteran? #HireHeroesUSA #VeteranEmployment #VeteranCareers #MilitaryFamily #CareerTransition #HireVeterans

It's no secret military spouses often face many challenges in the job market, including high unemployment rates and the need to frequently relocate. Despite their skills and qualifications, these challenges can lead to financial instability and stress within military families. However, when military spouses secure meaningful employment, like those provided at Squared Away, it positively impacts family stability and community well-being. Employed military spouses bring a sense of purpose and satisfaction that benefits their entire family far beyond just contributing to household income. Businesses that hire military spouses gain many advantages. They are adaptable and resilient, easily bringing diverse experiences to the workplace. Their strong work ethic and ability to thrive in changing environments make them great team members. Companies that support military spouse employment often see improved morale and a positive reputation within the community, a true win-win. As Veterans Day approaches, I want to express my sincere gratitude and thanks to all who have served our Country. 🙏 I came across an inspiring article that highlights how Veterans, with their unique skills, can play a crucial role in addressing the skills gap in our workforce. 🛠️ The article discusses the challenges some Veterans face in transitioning to skilled trades jobs and the importance of recognizing and valuing their skills in the civilian workforce. 🤝 Let's take a moment to thank our Veterans. I also encourage everyone to recognize the transferable skills of our Veterans. 🌐 Check out the full article #VeteransDay #Gratitude #ThankYouForYourService

Veterans are more than war stories. Too often, the narrative around Veterans focuses on their time in service and the challenges they face post-discharge, such as PTSD. While these stories are important, they don't capture the full picture. Veterans bring a wealth of experience, skills, and resilience to every part of their lives. Their journeys are diverse, filled with leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills that can transform any organisation. At JobOppO, we see the bigger picture. We understand that transitioning from military to civilian life is about leveraging these unique experiences and applying them in new, meaningful ways. It's not just about finding a job; it's about finding purpose and making a tangible impact. Our mission is to connect Veterans and Service Leavers with opportunities where their strengths shine, helping them build meaningful careers beyond the uniform. Are you a Veteran or do you know one? Let's shift the narrative together. Share in the comments or get in touch with us. Let's celebrate the diverse talents and successes of our Veterans. joboppo.co.uk #Veterans #Employment #CareerTransition

PreVeteran Founder | We Train Military & Veteran Talent for Private Sector Employment | Corporate & Higher Ed Training
I know all of you don't follow #militarytransition like we do at PreVeteran but assure you that this same article written by Penn State University, with essentially the same content, has been written about repeatedly over the past 20 years. What does this say about the current TAP-led system and, more importantly, what can we do about it? Let's chat... ☕ If you've been following PreVeteran, you know that we are very critical of the current program of record, TAP. Not because it does not try hard—it does—but because the program is structurally flawed for these simple reasons (to name a few). ❌ It does not paint a picture of how vastly different the military environment is from private sector environment (this leads the service member to believe they are "good to go" and that companies will be "clamoring to hire them" upon completion of their service, which is of course, false). ❌ As a result, the service member is not aware of the significant change they need to make to themselves to be successful in preparing for the very different private sector environment Want evidence. Take a look at this section from the article...because it captures it all nicely in one paragraph. Article link in first comment. 👇 “Post-9/11 veterans, those who served during the global War on Terror in Iraq and Afghanistan and have transitioned to civilian life face substantial risk of underemployment,” said Katie Davenport, assistant research professor at the Clearinghouse and lead author on the study. “This issue partly arises because many employers struggle to understand how military skills, particularly leadership, translate to civilian jobs. Also, veterans can feel pressure to accept jobs quickly after they leave military service and may not be as selective as they should be.” Now, let's look at that paragraph from the context of what I said above about the program of record having structural problems. 👉 "Post-9/11 veterans have transitioned to civilian life face substantial risk of underemployment." ✅ Why? The current program of record lulls them into thinking they'll be good to go...until they find out they are unprepared for the very different private sector 👉 "This issue partly arises because many employers struggle to understand how military skills, particularly leadership, translate to civilian jobs." ✅ Why? The current program of record and overall apparatus wants the system to work by having the employer have to change to acclimate to the service member. Does this make sense at all? Nope. The burden should be on the service member to acclimate to the private sector before they separate or retire...the PreVeteran way. 😎 👉 "Veterans can feel pressure to accept jobs quickly after they leave the military service and may not be as selective as they should be." ✅ Why? Do I really need to explain this one? You get it now. #stopbeingsurprised Aaron Bill Shawnda Jayne Tyrone Matt Matt Jesse Nicholas Vic Bobby Jonny Michelle

Did you know The Arizona Department of Economic Security, loves hiring Veterans? In 2022, the State of Arizona announced the AZ Hires Vets! Initiative with the purpose of increasing the number of Veterans who are employed with the State. Our Agency supports the Veteran community through various programs, with DES administering the Veterans Jobs Program in Arizona. Employing more than 3,200 military Veterans, the State of Arizona strives to give Veterans the opportunity to “Continue to Serve” through sustainable and meaningful employment. Many employers do not understand the benefits of hiring Veterans or how to translate military experience into civilian workplace skills, and that is where our DES Veterans outreach teams come into play, as they engage employers. Veterans bring valuable skills, experience, and unique know-how to the workforce, which translate into a capable, diversified and strong workforce. We know Veterans tend to be very hard-working, who are natural leaders and disciplined. We are honored to have them as part of our team. State employees receive ample paid benefits, including comprehensive healthcare for themselves and their dependents, annual and sick leave, 10 paid state holidays a year, time off for civic and military commitments, such as National Guard or military reserve duty. This picture was taken at a Veteran Hiring Event on June 26, 2024, and includes recruiters from different State of Arizona Agencies. #veterans #wehireveterans #stategovernment #veteranbenefits #arizonaliving #greatbenefits #greatweather #veteranjobs #veteranhiring Arizona Department of Corrections Arizona Department of Health Services Arizona Department of Transportation

Today, July 25, 2024, is National Hire a Veteran Day, a day to recognize the invaluable contributions Veterans bring to our workforce. We encourage you to join us in our efforts to support Veteran employment initiatives and recognizing the importance of hiring Veterans in the workplace Veterans bring a unique set of skills, perspectives, and experiences to the table, making them valuable additions to any team. By hiring Veterans, not only do we support those who have served our country, but we also benefit from their dedication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities. FEMA has many vacancies specific to Veterans that qualify under several special hiring authorities. A special hiring authority does not guarantee you a job, but it does mean that we have to consider your application as you were still competing against other individuals that may have similar hiring authorities or be qualified for the job. https://lnkd.in/e5WqrtbS As a veteran, it is important to remember that you were also eligible for all open to the public positions which include our CORE, Reaervist, and Local Hire positions. https://lnkd.in/e4WTuqi4 I will post some links in the comments below to the USA Jobs federal résumé builder and two a video I created to assist you in focusing your federal résumé to a specific job announcement.
