Understanding who we are is at the core of growing up for all of us, it’s complicated, confusing and at times confronting, and the process is lifelong. For young people living with brain injury, this journey is a thousand times more complex, and is further challenged by the lack of understanding they face. This month's understanding brain injury series will focus on how some of the young adults in our community learned to navigate this process, and find their way to understanding themselves, and more importantly, valuing themselves and their lived experience. For our community at Heads Together, these young people are a beacon of hope for families, and much needed trailblazers for the hundreds of thousands of young Australians living with brain injury. So please share these posts to acknowledge their courage, and if you’re thinking about kicking off 2024 with a positive impact, please consider making a donation to our organisation, every dollar goes to directly supporting a family or young person to join our community, connect with peers and receive on average 100hours of free support. https://lnkd.in/gU7eQwgU #ABI #TBI #braininjuryawareness #headstogetherforabi #headstogetherforbraininjury #nonprofit #braininjury #acquiredbraininjury #headinjury #traumaticbraininjury #braininjurysupport #mentalwellbeing #braininjuryadvocacy #inclusivity #LivedExperience #Volunteering #ABIAwareness #ABISurvivor #TBISurvivor #braininjurysurvivor #YouCantBeWhatYouCantSee #UnderstandMeUnderstandMyBrainInjury #YouCantUnderstandWhatYouDontKnow #understandingbraininjury #20yearsHeadsTogether

Sometimes life is hard. Trauma, grief, stress, all physically change the structure of our brain! Our brains are not out to get us, the change in structure is a natural design to keep us safe. But when it gets stuck in that survival state, problems arise. Neuroplasticity is SO cool! Our brains have a natural built-in way of healing themselves after we face unbelievably hard things. We get to witness neuroplasticity at work on a regular basis through support groups, wellness events, therapy connections, and so much more. We can only do this work through the generosity of donations, volunteer time, and those that offer encouragement. If you want to help support our work, please consider one of the following! - Like & Share our page & posts :) - Sign-up for our Annual Fundraiser! Bags for Hope hhwmn.com/events - Become a regular or one-time donator hhwmn.com/donate We have big dreams to expand the support we offer! Healing is found in connection with others. 💙 #hope #supportmentalhealth #bekindtoyourmind #hopeinahopelessworld #lifeishard #neuroplasticity #healyourbrain

We're always moved by feedback from parents who've engaged with our services & share how it has changed their lives. One mum said: "I don't have to put on a brave face at Smile. I can just be myself." It might sound simple and obvious, but often as new parents we're experiencing massive changes internally and yet trying to look like we 'have it all together'. The truth is that safe spaces which enable us to be honest can create massive shifts in our experience of parenthood. If you've come through our service - either attending peer support groups, talk therapy, home visits or family sessions - please take a few minutes to complete the survey below. It makes a big difference to us & helps funders see the immense value of our work. https://lnkd.in/eWtuhCmG #feedback #peersupport #perinatamentalhealth #charity

🌈 Join Us to Build a Haven: Introducing Ana, Another One of Our Inspiration at Milla's Meadow! 🌈 In every corner of our dreams for Milla's Meadow, an inclusive playground project in the making, there's a story of courage that deserves to be told. Today, we share the story of Ana, a vibrant soul whose journey exemplifies why Milla's Meadow is not just a playground, but a beacon of hope and joy for children with special needs. Ana battles with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy with laminin deficiency (LAMA2), meaning her body lacks a crucial protein for muscle strength. Despite the challenges of muscle weakness, joint contractures, scoliosis, and reduced lung capacity, Ana's spirit remains unbreakable. Her resilience and joy in the face of adversity inspire us all and highlight the urgent need for spaces like Milla's Meadow. Milla's Meadow aims to be a sanctuary where children like Ana can experience the joy of play in a setting that understands and meets their unique needs. A place where laughter fills the air, and every child is celebrated for their individuality and strength. However, to turn this dream into a reality, we need your support. Our GoFundMe campaign is the first step towards building a playground where children with special needs can thrive alongside their peers. 🌟 How You Can Help: By contributing to our GoFundMe campaign https://lnkd.in/dtyqKapT, you're not just donating to a playground; you're investing in a future where every child, regardless of their abilities, can play, learn, and grow in an environment tailored to their needs. Let's come together to make Milla's Meadow a reality. A gift of any size can bring us closer to providing a world of exploration and happiness for Ana and countless other children. 🚀 Be Part of the Change: Visit our GoFundMe page today https://lnkd.in/dtyqKapT and see how your contribution can build a brighter tomorrow for special needs families. Let's create a space where every child finds joy, acceptance, and the freedom to be themselves. #BuildMillasMeadow #AnaOurInspiration #InclusivePlay #SpecialNeedsSupport #CommunityLove #PlaygroundForAll #DonateNow #MakeADifference

Operations Executive/COO| MBA Cum Laude| Leading High-Performance Financial Services Teams with Heart and Humanity to Help Employees and Clients Achieve their Full Potential While Boosting Revenue Growth
To my mentors, friends, and community: Today, I’m reaching out with a humble request—not for myself, but for my kids at Life-Line Colorado. These young people are walking the same difficult path I once did, and now more than ever, they need our support. https://lnkd.in/gF76xfDs The science is clear: early intervention and community-based programs dramatically reduce youth recidivism. Research shows that young people who receive mentorship, education, and support are far less likely to return to criminal activity. In fact, according to studies by the U.S. Department of Justice, these types of interventions can lower recidivism rates by up to 40%. Life-Line Colorado is doing exactly that—offering a lifeline to youth at risk of being caught in this cycle. But this mission takes resources. I’m asking for your help. Whether it’s through volunteering, donating, or simply spreading the word, your action can make a difference. You helped me, and now together, we can help them. With deep gratitude, Christian Andrade #Gratitude #YouthRecidivism #CommunitySupport #LifeLineColorado #Mentorship #GivingBack
