Understanding who we are is at the core of growing up for all of us, it’s complicated, confusing and at times confronting, and the process is lifelong. For young people living with brain injury, this journey is a thousand times more complex, and is further challenged by the lack of understanding they face. This month's understanding brain injury series will focus on how some of the young adults in our community learned to navigate this process, and find their way to understanding themselves, and more importantly, valuing themselves and their lived experience. For our community at Heads Together, these young people are a beacon of hope for families, and much needed trailblazers for the hundreds of thousands of young Australians living with brain injury. An incredibly generous donation from Northgate Market of 90 baby blankets 🚼 A key category of our baby basic distributions is “comfort items” and blankets & swaddles are always items that are quick to go! So, receiving this in-kind donation is not only kind but so helpful to our moms & families who need support. What may just seem like a comfort item is so much more… it is a basic need that supports the emotional well-being of our kiddos, even as babies. Baby blankets can help provide a sense of familiarity and security to babies, especially during times of stress or change. So not only are they necessary for warmth, but they are quite literally physical examples of how connected basic needs are to our mental health.
