Nurse Career Coach | Empowering Nurses to land Specialty Positions, Secure Promotions, Leadership Roles, & Higher Pay in 90 Days |Author & Speaker Featured on The Jennifer Hudson Show
❗ NEW NURSES ❗ I got your back! Here are 5 tips for new nurses in clinical practice that emphasize safety and success: 1. Know Your Patients and Assess Frequently Patient conditions can change rapidly, so frequent assessments are critical. Stay vigilant, monitor their vitals, and be proactive in identifying any signs of deterioration. Early detection can prevent complications and improve outcomes. 2. Trust Your Gut If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts. Whether it’s a change in a patient’s condition or a procedure that seems off, don’t hesitate to call for help or notify the physician. Quick action can save lives, so never second-guess your intuition. 3. Advocate for Yourself and Your Patients As a nurse, you must advocate for both your patients and yourself. Set boundaries to avoid burnout, and ensure your patients’ needs and safety are always prioritized. Don’t be afraid to speak up if something isn’t right. Just CUS! I am Concerned about... I am Uncomfortable.... It's a Safety Issue.... 4. Know Your "Ish" and Take Accountability Take full responsibility for your learning. Know the policies, procedures, and scope of practice at your facility. Always be eager to ask questions and learn, and never rely on assumptions. Be thorough, and continuously expand your knowledge base. 5. Communicate Clearly and Often Effective communication is vital in clinical practice. Always clarify orders, and don’t act on anything you don’t fully understand or cannot logically justify. If something doesn’t make sense, ask for clarification, and escalate issues when necessary to ensure patient safety. These tips will help new nurses build confidence, maintain safety, and succeed in their clinical practice. Why are nurses the only individuals that can apply for an NPI but not get paid for their services? This includes both LPNs and RNs. Despite their critical role in healthcare #nurses are not able to bill or get reimbursement for their services. Nurses can obtain an NPI, a unique identifier required for billing, but they are the only individuals that do not get paid directly for the care they provide. This gap is a significant challenge in transitioning to value-based care, where care management services by nurses are crucial. Connecting with physicians who recognize and utilize nurses' services is often a hurdle. As an independent Nurse Consultant, I support the #CommissionforNurseReimbursement to address these disparities. Nurses should be able to provide care management services directly to patients and be compensated fairly. This change would enable nurses from diverse backgrounds to support their communities effectively and play a pivotal role in the shift to #valuebasedcare. By advocating for fair reimbursement and obtaining an NPI, nurses can lead innovative care management models and ensure their invaluable contributions are recognized and compensated. I urge all nurses to apply for their NPI numbers and actively participate in shaping the future of healthcare. Let's work together to advance value-based care and support our communities. Learn more about applying for your NPI number here 👇🏽 https://lnkd.in/ePTQJvK2

This should be included in the #nursingcurriculum. New nurses want to graduate and immediately get advanced degrees. Many of them talk about their long-term plans (that don't include bedside nursing). If more pre-licensed nurses knew about the Commission for Nurse Reimbursement, they may be less likely to aim for the NP or CRNA track. When I tell #studentnurses that I was the owner of a #legalnurseconsulting business, they are presently surprised and want to know how they can own a business or work for themselves. #Innovation

College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) now authorizes Registered Nurses (RNs) to prescribe certain medications and diagnose for prescribing purposes, enhancing their role in healthcare. This initiative, starting with approved regulations in November 2023, aims to meet increasing patient demands by enabling RNs to treat non-complex conditions more autonomously. The change follows completion of specific CNO-approved educational programs, improving healthcare accessibility and efficiency across Ontario. This significant development in nursing practice supports quicker and more convenient healthcare delivery to communities, especially those in remote areas #nurses #healthcare The following chart lists the medications authorized RNs can prescribe in Ontario: https://lnkd.in/e9_actAg

The Essential Role of Nurses: A Vital Pillar in Healthcare In the intricate web of healthcare, nurses stand as the compassionate and skilled caretakers, playing a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being of patients. Their profession extends far beyond administering medications and changing bandages; it encompasses empathy, expertise, and tireless dedication. Beyond their clinical skills, nurses serve as advocates for patients, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met. They offer comfort in times of distress, providing emotional support to patients and their families as they navigate through illness and recovery. In addition to their role in direct patient care, nurses also contribute to the advancement of healthcare through research, education, and leadership. They are at the forefront of innovation, driving improvements in patient outcomes and the delivery of care. Despite the challenges they face – long hours, demanding schedules, and emotional strain – nurses continue to answer the call to serve with unwavering dedication and resilience. Their selflessness and commitment make them the heart and soul of healthcare systems worldwide. In conclusion, nurses are the unsung heroes of healthcare, embodying compassion, expertise, and resilience in their tireless pursuit of healing and comfort for those in need. Their contributions are invaluable, shaping the landscape of healthcare and touching countless lives along the way. ✍🏾: RN OBIEFUNA SILVER NNEKA #Nursingcareer #Health #Nursing.
