So today's the day the UK's Best Workplaces for 2024 get announced - whoop, whoop! This is a good day for me given that I'm obsessed with making workplaces fairer, healthier and happier for everyone. Life is waaaay to short to be miserable at work, and yet so many are. When I started my career, I loved my job, I loved the impact I was making and my role but I didn't love the culture, which often didn't feel fair. Running my own business has meant I could create a culture that I wanted to work (and thrive) in and that's been the true joy of running a business. Today's list will include the absolute best of the best, businesses who are making genuine impact with their workplace culture. One of the things that I try to explain about the Great Place To Work UK model is that certification / rankings are not based on filling in entry forms describing what initiatives are being run, fancy benefits offered, wellbeing or DEI strategies there are in place - all that's great but only if it works. Today's celebrated businesses are the ones who's employees are feeling fairly treated, respected, able to thrive, have trust in their management, where they feel they're working in truly great places.
