There are two interrelated concepts, courage, and confidence, that are essential for success and growth in various areas of our lives: at school, the workplace and in our personal life. Having the awareness that you, or someone you know, may be challenged with confidence, is a step towards improving performance and communication in all aspects of life. Due to internal negative self-talk, frustrations, anger, resentments, and fears, we all unwittingly put boundaries around our potential for success. It would be appropriate to say; our unconscious beliefs and patterns of behaviour are placing obstacles in the way of our aspirations, ultimately impacting our emotional state, decision making and acceptance of self. It is important to remember; we are not responsible for the programming we received through early childhood. But as adults we are responsible for changing it! Closing words from this week's CAG Devon Wellbeing for Changemakers session. Small group this week - others busy with Big Green Week events. We looked at Task Analysis - exploring how breaking activities down into small steps helps us shine a light on our own preferences and patterns. Of course, we don't always have free reign about which elements of a task we complete. But we do often have more choice than we think. We've started playing with creativity at the beginning of these sessions and it's working well. It's helping us all leave the day behind, switch gears and open up to new possibilities. Potent stuff. Next time, we're looking at the Drama Triangle. This is where my counselling skills studies come in handy. Blending learning from a range of arenas. Exciting times.
