I have realized more and more every day that the beauty in everything you do is compared to how much you are present in the exact moment, paying attention to every detail, really within it. Throughout my journey I have not found anything more powerful and effective than being present, this is the basis of everything. I have a daily practice that helps me to be more present in my activities and in myself; 1 - Start with your breath: The breath is a powerful anchor to the present moment. Take a few moments throughout your day to simply focus on your breath. Notice the sensation of air flowing in and out of your nostrils, the rise and fall of your chest or abdomen. Whenever you feel distracted or overwhelmed, return your attention to your breath to recentre yourself. 2 - Engage your senses: Tune into your immediate surroundings using your senses. Take a moment to notice the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and textures around you. Engaging your senses can help ground you in the present moment and foster a deeper appreciation for the world around you. 3 - Practice mindful activities: Incorporate mindfulness into your daily activities, such as eating, walking, or even washing dishes. Pay close attention to each action, savouring the sensory experience without judgment or distraction. This can help turn routine tasks into opportunities for mindfulness and presence. 4 - Connect with nature: Spend time outdoors and immerse yourself in the natural world. Whether it's taking a walk in the park, hiking in the mountains, or simply sitting in your backyard, nature can be a powerful catalyst for presence and inner peace.

𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 is more than just a buzzword; it's a transformative way of approaching life that cultivates presence, awareness, and inner peace. At its core, 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 encourages us to engage fully with the present moment, without judgment. It invites us to observe our thoughts and feelings without getting caught up in them, fostering a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us. One of the key 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 of mindfulness is its ability to reduce stress and enhance overall well-being. 3 Tips for Nurturing a Mindful Interior Life for Beginners A mindful interior life can be a natural part of your day-to-day experiences. "There is no life more real than the interior life of the soul." - Teresa of Avila, Interior Castle As a nun, I made a wilderness retreat one summer in the mountains of British Columbia. My spiritual director, a nun who was my mentor for the retreat, encouraged me to practice simple, mindful actions to connect with nature. She suggested that during one of my hikes, I pause by a mountain stream, remove my boots and socks, dip my feet in the flowing water, and be present in the experience. It was one of the most refreshing moments of body, mind, and soul connection I've experienced in my life. Cultivating a mindful interior life is easier than you might expect. Here are three essential tips to nurture your inner mindfulness journey. Tip #1. Start with a Mindfulness Minute Before you begin your day or check your phone upon waking, spend one minute in silence. This intentional quiet helps set a calm tone for the day. It's a simple, effective way to center yourself in the present moment. Tip #2. Embrace Stillness Slowing down to be still is the foundation of a mindful life. In a fast-paced world, it's easy to forget to pause and just be. Stillness allows you to connect with your inner self and observe your thoughts without judgment. Tip #3. Use Mindful Eating Practices Turn at least one meal per day into a mindful experience. Eat slowly, savor each bite, and fully engage with the flavors and textures of your food. This practice enhances your eating experience. What mindfulness habit helps you nurture your interior life? Photo Credit: Denise Pyles, Wilderness Retreat - Quiniscoe Lake, British Columbia, Canada

3 Tips for Creating a Calming Interior Life for Mindful Stillness As a nun, building an interior life of presence was just as important as creating an outward life of service. "Though we do not wholly believe it yet, the interior life is a real life, and the intangible dreams of people have a tangible effect on the world." - James Baldwin (Nobody Knows My Name) Seeking silence is one way to create space for an interior life of self-discovery and personal growth. I still practice mindful stillness today as part of my daily routine. Building an interior life for mindfulness involves cultivating habits and practices promoting self-awareness, calmness, and focus. Here are three tips to help you get started. Tip #1. Slow Down Your Racing Mind • Be intentional about quieting your mind. • Let go of any fear of silence or fear of the unknown. • Mentally lower the volume of your inner critic. Tip #2. Create Space for Inner Silence • Create an interior space free from the constant exterior distractions and noise. • Allow yourself to settle and center in stillness. • Linger long enough to find peace within yourself. Tip #3. Give Yourself Grace • Allow yourself to show up to mindful stillness just as you are. • You don't have to be perfect, just present. • Allow the stillness to wash over you and within you. 🌿 Embracing Mindfulness in Modern Contexts 🌿 Earlier this week, I was reading this great book by Scott Grafton called, "Physical Intelligence, The science of thinking without thinking", there’s a compelling section that delves into how mindfulness and similar tools are adapted for our modern lives, especially in environments where nature is scarce. In today’s fast-paced, urbanised world, many of us find ourselves disconnected from the natural surroundings that once provided a sense of peace and grounding. Scott highlights how mindfulness practices are evolving to fill this void, offering us ways to reconnect with ourselves and find tranquillity amidst the concrete jungle. As I sat at Kamala Beach, Thailand there was a moment where I just simply sat there. Whilst the kids are enjoying the gentle waves, I was taking in all the senses and began to feel grounded like my mind was at peace. Just to show how important it is by simply integrating mindfulness into our daily routines, we can create our own “nature” within, fostering mental clarity and emotional balance. Whether it’s through meditation, mindful breathing, or simply taking a moment to appreciate the present like the beaches of Thailand, these tools are essential for maintaining well-being in our increasingly digital and urban lives. So, when you are weighed down by the chaos remember to create your own oasis of calm, no matter where we are. 🌱✨ #Mindfulness #WellBeing #MentalHealth #UrbanLife #PhysicalIntelligence

In today’s fast-paced world, finding moments of tranquility can be a challenge. In the middle of our busy lives, strategically designed leisure spaces emerge as sanctuaries that support mindfulness, offering a refuge where one can reconnect with the present moment. A well-thought-out leisure environment promotes mindfulness by incorporating elements that engage the senses and foster a sense of calm. Natural elements such as greenery, water features, and ample natural light are key components. The sight of lush plants, the sound of flowing water, and the feel of a gentle breeze can ground individuals in the present, helping to reduce stress and anxiety. 👉 Read the full blog post here: https://lnkd.in/ea62JkaJ #Mindfulness #Tranquility #LeisureSpaces #MindfulLiving #NatureInDesign #StressRelief #Relaxation #UrbanOasis #CalmSpaces

An absolute pleasure to sit down and talk all things ice, sauna, nature and mental resilience with DProf Tom Bates. A short clip of the whole conversation, but a super important one! The power of being present.. From right when we wake up to when we fall asleep, our lives intertwine with technologies, social media, and countless responsibilities. Conveniences, yes, but also a culture of perpetual distraction. We’re so accustomed to splitting our attention that we rarely experience activities with our whole presence. The idea of living in the present moment can almost feel like an elusive dream in today’s society. And yet, The ICE BATH in today’s chaos and cacophony, is our open invitation to savour the exquisite beauty of presentness. Stepping into a bucket of ice triggers your brain’s fight-or-flight response which is a physiological reaction that occurs when we are in the presence of something that is mentally or physically terrifying. You simply have no time, nor the energy, to be thinking about any other of life’s distractions in that moment. Once over the initial shock, a state of calmness takes over the body, and perhaps, this truly is what mindfulness is? Mindfulness encourages a non-judgmental observation of our experiences, helping us break free from the chains of automatic reactions and judgments. It fosters a deep awareness of the present. By cultivating this skill, we can navigate the swift currents of the modern world with greater clarity and calmness. This state of mind offers multiple benefits: 1. Reduced Stress 2. Enriched creativity 3. Strengthened relationships 4. Increased productivity 5. Heightened senses

Certified Master Coach helping Veterans, First Responders, and Others suffering with trauma and burnout transform, rediscover, and reconnect through Adventure Wellness
This is how outdoor activities allowed me to be more mindful! As a coach, adventure guide, and outdoor educator . . . I have witnessed firsthand the incredible power of being present in the moment. Through mindful engagement with nature . . . . . . I discovered crucial progress both mentally and physically. First —> I had to learn to slow down. I love to go fast But immersing myself in the beauty around me . . . meant truly connecting with my surroundings. That meant getting dirty, a little sweaty, and smelling the flowers. This practice allowed me to develop a deep sense of self-awareness and appreciation for the world . . . . . . which engaged my senses. Feeling the earth beneath my feet, listening to the birds, or hearing water flowing always grounds me. I also love a sunrise over the mountains where I can face it, close my eyes, and take a few deep breaths. Deep breathing . . . just like meditation can help calm your mind bringing you back to the present. Finally, I leave the technology at home. Don’t get me wrong, I love taking photos and tracking my route But that’s it! No social media, calls, or texts. Those distractions can take away from the ‘real’ purpose. Mindfulness and nature can guide you towards a life filled with clarity, peace, and a renewed sense of purpose. You simply need to find the confident steps that will steer along your transformative journey! p.s. how do you practice mindfulness with nature? ———————— 1. If you like . . . Share for others to Grow 2. DM me if you feel you need some Positivi-T Who said Arizona doesn't get snow 😊🤙
