Let’s clear the air: this video isn’t real—it’s CGI! What you’re seeing is a concept known as SKY DOCKING. Picture this: two planes flying side-by-side in the sky, connecting mid-air instead of landing on the ground. Why is this significant? It could allow for the transfer of passengers or cargo without needing to land, and even facilitate refueling—something already in practice with jet fighters. While we may be years away from this reality, there are numerous regulations to navigate before it can take flight. Share your thoughts. #Aviation #Innovation #Technology #FutureOfFlight #SkyDocking #CGI #Aerospace #AirTravel #Regulations #PassengerTransport #ttaf #talktechafrica

Collins Aerospace has launched its Collins’ Airport Surface Awareness System for real-time tracking, monitoring, and recording of aircraft and GSE at airports. The ability to track aircraft as well as ground support equipment provides a real-time, holistic view of airport operations that enables airports to enhance operational efficiency and help decrease ground incursions. “Lack of situational awareness consistently contributes to critical issues at airports, including incidents on the airfield, inefficient aircraft turn management and improper use of ground support equipment,” said Rakan Khaled, general manager of Airport Solutions at Collins Aerospace (an RTX business). “This system provides real-time data to airports to solve for those issues.” https://lnkd.in/d3xhSZZw #technology #airports #realtime #monitors #aircraft #aviationindustry

With Boom & United in partnership, returning supersonic travel to the commercial sector is another step closer to reality. For Air Traffic Control, dusting off publications to manage this type of traffic is inevitable. Any #ATC folks out there ever had to control the Concorde in/out of terminal airspace?

We welcome the publication of the Future of Flight Action Plan by the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom and the Future of Flight Industry Group this week, with its vision of a thriving, safe and sustainable UK future flight industry by 2030. The plan recognizes standardization as a key building block, including to support industry-wide interoperability and harmonization. BSI is addressing this need, in collaboration with the UK Government and the Civil Aviation Authority, through the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) funded Future Flight Standards Programme. We look forward to continuing working closely with industry as market requirements evolve and as we develop a standards roadmap to enable the strategy. We’ve all been there: enjoying a window seat, noticing other aircraft on the horizon, and waving at them, only to realize they’ll never wave us back… Guess what? There’s a reason for that! In the skies, planes maintain distance to ensure everyone’s safety. The minimum safe distance between two aircraft varies depending on their altitude and airspace regulations. Typically, airplanes are required to stay at least 1000 ft (300 m) vertically and 3.4 mi (5.5 km) horizontally apart for safe flying conditions. So the next time you want to say hi to that aircraft flying next to yours, say hi to your travel neighbor instead — there’s a higher chance they’ll react. #AviaSolutionsGroup #livingaviation
