We thought we were going to be a singing duo. We were wrong 🙃 Then we thought we were going to be a singing agency. Wrong there too 🙃 Turns out, bereaved families needed more than a singing agency. They needed a complete service - flexible booking, no rigid packages, and a bit of help and guidance along the way. Sometimes just a listening ear too. Yes we provide singers for funerals. But that alone was never enough for this unique industry, so we expanded our service until it really met the needs of the clients. No one else really does what we do. In her book All About Love, Bell Hooks says : "A vision articulates a future that someone deeply wants and does it so clearly and compellingly that it summons up the energy, agreement, sympathy, political will, resources or whatever to make that vision happen." Touching Perfection: A Tribute to Tribute Bands I love tribute bands. I mean, note-for-note, perfect tribute bands. I could watch them all day. I say it’s about time someone salute their efforts. The problem is that most tribute bands get a bad rap. And for good reason . . . There are a ton of terrible tribute bands out there. But, hey, I’ll give them an “A” for putting in the effort. But those perfect, note-for-note tribute bands? I love them. And I love tribute bands, but not for the reason you think. No, I don’t need to hear another band play “A Hard Day’s Night.” I have The Beatles for that, thank you. It’s not about liking tribute bands for their sound. It’s about imagining the endless hours those musicians practice to perfect their sound. It’s about perfecting their craft. It’s about achieving perfection. And what better way to perfect your craft than by copying the masters? Hey, Michelangelo did it, right? And Picasso? Yup. Heck, let’s add Andy Warhol, too. Oops—I almost forgot . . . The Beatles copied Little Richard, Buddy Holly, and the Everly Brothers. Me? Did I copy the masters? You bet I did. During the first few weeks studying copywriting under Sean D’Souza . . . I copied Kindle’s copy. I copied Apple’s bullet points. I copied from other master copywriters. By hand—not typing. What is the goal of copying the masters? To touch perfection. I think we’re all trying to touch perfection, right? The question for new writers is simple . . . Do you have this level of discipline? PS: This Chicago tribute band has touched perfection.
