Coaches, weigh in on this one … excuses vs. reasons … “Self-responsibility is the ultimate freedom.” Give it away, and we beome pawns of big bureaucracies. Adults CHOOSE the deep 6 of food-drink behaviors; the what, how much, how fast, when, where and why they eat and drink. Contine to treat adults like children, as if they are incapable of changing their behaviors, then HCPs, insurance programs and gov’t institutions will manage our healthcare for us. WE are our best health-care providers. As for the cost of minimally processed nutrient-rich foods, the grocery store freezers are packed with flash-frozen veggies and fruits in every color, at prices significantly lower than fresh! The food industry will respond to supply & demand. ✅ Coaches, your local communities need you! 👍🏔 #foodismedicine #behaviorchange #adultobesity #metabolichealth #foodindustry #fastfood #minimallyprocessedfoods

At The Cook’s Nook, we’ve been crafting culturally competent, ready-to-eat meals since 2020 from our East Austin facility. Our mission is rooted in providing nutrition solutions for health equity through innovation and community engagement. By partnering with healthcare providers, benefits platforms, and insurers, we aim to improve outcomes for those most vulnerable — those at the intersection of nutrition insecurity and chronic health conditions. Food is Medicine! The Rockefeller Foundation supports Food is Medicine programs, that use food-based interventions to help prevent, manage, and treat diet-related diseases. The programs tackle the challenge many Americans encounter in finding and affording healthy, nutritious food. We need a fresh look at our national dietary guidelines, which many nutritionists feel don't match the newest and best nutritional science, especially regarding ultra-processed foods. These guidelines influence everything from food labels and government meal programs to what's served in schools and hospitals, and even how our food is produced. It's time for an update to ensure guidelines reflect the latest in nutrition science and help us all make better food choices, which translates to better health overall! #nutrition #nutritionscience #NationalDietitiansDay #FoodIsMedicine #Philanthropy

There is nothing better for your health than a good variety of organic, healthy food, a decent night's sleep, sunshine and daily exercise. Modern medicine, with its focus on pathology, rather than holistic cure and prevention, often misses the point by providing an ambulance service at the bottom of the cliff, rather than building a wall at the top to stop people from falling over in the first place! At Feelgood Health our mission is to make healthy, holistic options easily available to all and we therefore salute organizations like the The Rockefeller Foundation when they put their money where their mouths are to support good health! #naturalhealing #preventioniskey #foodismedicine
Today, we announced that we are increasing our commitment to advance #FoodisMedicine programs to over $100 million. We also announced that we are partnering with HHS to accelerate the adoption of Food is Medicine (FIM) in American health care systems. It is commendable that health outcomes have improved since this indicates the multidisciplinary nature of these efforts. Although the effect of food on health outcomes is not new, it might be more difficult to achieve. I am intrigued about the recent debate around Medicaid's "food is medicine" initiative as it raises an important question: Are medically tailored meals truly meeting the nutritional needs of beneficiaries and improving health outcomes? While the program aims to address chronic health conditions through diet, critics argue about the quality and effectiveness of these meals. It’s crucial to balance innovative approaches with rigorous assessments to validate their benefits. What is the effectiveness of such programs in achieving their health goals? https://lnkd.in/ekgskdim

This investment is so important. In the #foodismedicine movement, there are a lot of conversations right now. And we need that to de-silo and promote #innovation, but we need doing alongside all the visioning. Our patients and communities need action NOW. While we continue to bring together the many minds for discussions/ summits/conferences all over the US, we must also take an approach of immediate application of our ideas into clinical and research settings. That's the only way we will figure out the HOW of this - the implementation science is going to be vital for solutions that are: 1) Sustainable 2) Adaptable across populations with different needs 3) Promote equity 4) Enable the outcomes we need to see re: health and quality of life 5) Deliver value and economically make sense. Thanks to The Rockefeller Foundation for being a "doer" and propelling the action on the ground that will make all the difference.
