Exploring the Value Chains in Marsabit County During the recent Isiolo, Marsabit, and Samburu County Investment Conference, I had the opportunity to dive deeper into the incredible value chains that exist within Marsabit County. The insights I gathered at the event were both eye-opening and inspiring, reinforcing the county’s potential as a key player in the Northern Kenya economic landscape. Marsabit County boasts significant value chains in the livestock sector, especially with livestock production and markets playing a central role in the county’s economy. Livestock rearing supports livelihoods for a large portion of the population, and there are growing opportunities for value addition in meat processing, milk production, and hide and skin products. Additionally, the Gums and Resins value chains offer untapped potential for commercialization, and there is increasing interest in renewable energy projects in the region, which can drive sustainable development. The county is also rich in agriculture, with crops like sorghum, millet, and maize providing food security and offering market opportunities. These insights highlight the vast opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs to support Marsabit County in realizing its full economic potential. I'm grateful to be part of the impact being created in Marsabit County. #InvestmentOpportunities #MarsabitCounty #ValueChains #LivestockEconomy #RenewableEnergy #Agriculture #SmartRegionalConsultants #EconomicGrowth #NorthernKenya

Ÿnsect—one of the highest-profile players in the nascent insect farming space—has filed a safeguard plan with a commercial court in Évry, France, in a bid to stay afloat as it raises funds to expand production at its mealworm facility in Amiens. The firm started protein production in Amiens over the summer, but needs to secure more funding to get to a scale whereby it can “ensure profitability.” Ÿnsect is in “advanced discussions with a certain number of investors wishing to support and finance this launch phase of its industrial process,” but notes that “the delays inherent in carrying out this fundraising however, proved to be incompatible with the financial pressure suffered by the company.” The safeguard procedure is designed to help companies that are facing financial difficulties but are not yet insolvent to continue operating, keep jobs, and pay off debts. #agtech #insectfarming #insects #mealworms #insectag #insectagriculture AgFunder
