About us
POWERED BY POSSIBLE The world is more fragile than ever. Food shortages have left millions of people hungry, while violent conflict has sent millions on the run. From poverty and malnutrition to natural disasters and climate change, it’s easy to see a world of insurmountable challenges. Instead, we see an opportunity to create transformative change. We see the world differently. In crisis, we believe in the power of human potential. In struggle, we believe in the ability of communities to grow stronger. So we act differently. We understand that communities are the best agents of their own change and local markets are the best engines of long-term recovery. In more than 40 countries, we partner to put bold solutions into action, helping people triumph over adversity and grow stronger from within. For the refugee who dreams of rebuilding her country, for the mother who wants a healthy future for her children — for millions of people filled with the power of possibility —Mercy Corps connects people to the resources they need to build better, stronger lives. We create transformative change. Mercy Corps has responded to nearly every global emergency over the past 20 years. Since 1979, we have provided $3.7 billion in lifesaving assistance throughout the world. Each year we infuse millions of dollars into local economies through small business loans and grants to provide livelihoods for the world’s most vulnerable people. We are empowering more than 100,000 youth trapped by violent conflict to overcome the profound stress of war and become change makers in their communities. We are powered by the belief that a better world is possible. Join us.

🚨 In the early hours of yesterday morning, families in #Gaza woke to the sound of relentless airstrikes, children trembling in fear, and civilians once again caught in the crossfire of violence. Renewed Israeli bombardment of Gaza shattering a two-month ceasefire is a devastating setback for civilians and hostages who have survived nearly 18 months of destruction. This horrific suffering after weeks of hope is unconscionable. All parties must immediately commit to ending this war for good. #CeasefireNOW 🔗 Read our full statement here: https://lnkd.in/e-7n8B7G

🚨 The U.S. Administration has cut off lifesaving aid to millions of people who need it most. The consequences are dire: Lives will be lost if the aid doesn’t flow. We’re doing everything we can to support the urgent needs of crisis-affected families—but we need your help to convince Congress to meet the moment by defending foreign aid. 📢 Send a letter today urging Congress to keep vital aid flowing. 🔗 Make your voice heard here: https://lnkd.in/geNxEGks

🚨We are deeply alarmed by the suspension of aid and electricity flowing into #Gaza, and the growing risk of renewed war that would push people further into humanitarian crisis. The stakes could not be higher for civilians who have already endured unimaginable hardship. Aid must not be used as a political bargaining chip, and ongoing negotiations should not hinder the delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in desperate need across the Gaza Strip. 🔗 Read our full statement here: https://lnkd.in/g98VzUFr

Last month, we hit a solemn anniversary: 20 years since the catastrophic Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, one of the world’s deadliest natural disasters in history. In the wake of this disaster, wreckage washed into communities, the families of 17,000 people mourned the deaths of their loved ones, and thousands struggled to figure out what came next. The scale of this crisis marked a turning point in global disaster response, leading to groundbreaking efforts in disaster risk reduction and emergency preparedness. Our own teams provided a lifeline to more than 423,000 people in Aceh, #Indonesia with food rations, clean water, health care support, and temporary shelters. 🔗 Learn more about this historic moment—and what lessons we carry from it today—here: https://lnkd.in/dJaxMARf

For Olha and Anton, there was never a question of whether they should return to rebuild their village of Lyubomyrivka, #Ukraine.🇺🇦 This township, where both of them have lived all their lives and started their family, is filled with fond memories and the fruits of their hard work. Before the war, they owned multiple buildings and fields for agriculture, beekeeping, livestock rearing, and grape vines.🌱 However, after briefly escaping when the conflict hit too close to home, they returned to find their buildings burned down and agricultural equipment stolen or destroyed. Despite this devastation, Olha and Anton are determined to stay and rebuild. While most of their land is unusable as it has yet to be de-mined, they were recently able to purchase several new beehives and make an income again. “We want to recover. We really do,” Olha told us. “We still have hope that everything will be fine.” ❤️🩹
