Caring for our loved ones who took care of us as children can be a very challenging time in one’s life, especially if there is a sudden or unexpected need for intervention and decision-making about taking on the role of caretaker, finding a daycare for adults to help while we are at work, or placing a parent in an assisted living facility. A CASA volunteer gets to know a child and their family then makes knowledgeable, individualized recommendations to the court. But how does that actually help improve a child’s situation? ➡Therapy or parenting skill development classes can be suggested to ease tensions within the family. ➡Substance use disorder evaluations and access to possible treatment can be recommended and then court ordered. ➡Housing assistance can be identified to help the family remain in a home rather than continue to move repeatedly. ➡It can be suggested a parent or guardian receive daycare assistance rather than the children being left unsupervised or in a questionable situation. ➡ It can be recommended that the child receive medical care, such as visiting a dentist or an eye doctor to get new glasses.

Judaic Studies Educator /Mashgiach Ruchani/ SEL Support and Guidance at HEBREW ACADEMY OF LONG BEACH
"📣 As parents, it is crucial to maintain open communication with our children, whether they are attending day camp, daycare or sleepaway. Ignorance may seem like bliss, but it's important to recognize that what we don't know can indeed hurt us and our loved ones. 🚫🤐 Let's create a safe environment where our children feel comfortable sharing their experiences and concerns. By being aware of the signs of abuse, whether it's verbal or, God forbid, something worse, we can actively protect our children and ensure their well-being. 🙏❤️ #OpenCommunication #ChildSafety #AwarenessMatters"

6+ months of investigative work from Chabeli Carrazana and The 19th on the safety challenges facing our child care system. An important reminder of how vital things like low student-teacher ratios are for keeping our kids safe and loved. Every little one deserves a place where they can thrive, and every parent should feel confident their child is in great hands. This callout really got me: parents are scared to speak up about issues because they might lose their only child care option. We've got to find a way to make sure safety and accessibility go hand in hand, without putting parents in such tough spots. Let's keep the conversation going and work towards a system where no one has to make those impossible choices. #ChildCareSafety #ProtectOurKids
