We caught up with Johanna Wretling Stadler, Insights and business design leader at the department New business at Duni Group, to learn more about working with innovation. “As an organization you can work either from the inside out or from the outside in. If you work from the outside in, you adapt over time to both consumer behavior and changes in the environment. Looking at the needs and wishes, pains and struggles around the topic is important.” “Also, we as humans change our approach and way of dealing with things over time and over generations. If we want to be a company that future generations want to associate with, we need to know who they are. How do we meet their needs? By acquiring more knowledge about the end customer – we can be stronger in innovation and new product development. Do you want to know my best takeaway from GITEX AFRICA this year? “Don't reinvent the wheel." This advice, gathered from various discussions, panels, and meetings, is something I already knew, but now I truly understand its power. Instead of trying to redo what others have already achieved, focus on capitalizing on existing solutions. Innovation isn't just about creating new things; it's about effectively leveraging available resources. Use bootstrappers, low-code platforms, open-source tools, and existing ML models to create something impactful and effective. This approach is not just smart, it's transformative.

Really looking forward to this one ❤️ I've been to many an innovation event and have found a lot to be pretty...dry. For this event, we really wanted to help our pharma community step out of their everyday and build a playground where they get to think about and learn from other sectors. There's an element here of the unknown: we've no idea what thinking will emerge, or what connections might be made - and that's great, because we so rarely prioritise or make time for this type of thinking in our daily professional lives.
