I haven't been following Indonesia's packaged food industry closely. So this new instant spaghetti brand caught my attention recently. And it tastes great! The pasta and the sauce do not taste like 'off the mill' food. It comes with the popular bolognese and carbonara version. The only set back is the portion is too small! I know it's not healthy but my culinary curiosity has once again won over my diet list. I must give credit to PT. Mayora Indah Tbk for the innovation. If the existing giant instant noodle producers like PT Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk and @wings group are following this it could well be a start of a new category of flour based packaged food. At the end of the day the instant noodle business was started modestly in the 70's. It now has become a 14,5 billion servings pa in Indonesia alone (roughly at least IDR75 trillion in market size if each is priced at IDR5k). This is why Indonesia is still so promising as a consumer market.

I think every country with a population of more than 200 million people will always be attractive to all FMCG companies, healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. It's as if you just throw any type of food or drink, will definitely be sold in the market 😊

Good insight Henriko Sarin ! Indonesia is big enough for players to always innovate specially in FMCG. Mayora have the capability and speed to innovate and penetrate the market; i think the MNC currently see that as a big challenge for them to maintain share.
