I'm fresh out of IFMR GSB - Krea University with an MBA. Before diving into the business world, I navigated the realm of Finance and Accountancy at Christ University, Bengaluru. I even had a stint as an Audit Analyst at Deloitte Haskins & Sells LLP before I joined for my two-year full-time MBA Program. My journey into the corporate world kicked off with a bang. My first internship interview was with JPMorgan Chase & Co. for the coveted CADP role. Despite a stumble in a previous interview, I nailed this one, thanks to my past experiences and extracurricular endeavors at Christ University. Joining JPMC for my internship was like stepping into a world of endless possibilities. The support and camaraderie within my team and across departments made it an incredibly fulfilling experience. Every day was a new adventure filled with learning and growth. Securing a Pre-Placement Offer (PPO) from JPMC for the CADP program was the cherry on top. It meant I didn't have to go through the nerve-wracking final placement interviews. Instead, I could focus on my studies in the second year alongside the Student Council President role I had taken up. The past 2 months at ICICI Bank Headquarters in BKC, Mumbai, have been a true milestone for me! Stepping outside my comfort zone and living in a vibrant city like Mumbai has been an experience in itself – one that's taught me valuable lessons about independence and adaptability. But the real learning came at the internship itself. I got to put textbook concepts into practice on real-time projects alongside an incredible team from the Global Clients Group. The supportive environment and talented team have made this a truly enriching journey. Devouring industry reports, analyzing market trends, and understanding the finer nuances of the financial landscape – it's all been an eye-opening experience. It's been fascinating to see how seemingly disparate factors, like infrastructure development projects, international sanctions, etc., can influence the feasibility and direction of these trade flows. 𝐀𝐝𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐢'𝐬 𝐯𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐭𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟. Finding a comfortable place to stay initially presented a challenge, but the city's infectious spirit quickly made me feel welcome. The constant hum of activity can sometimes be overwhelming, especially with the city's distinct humidity. Dear Connections, I'm thrilled to share that I've successfully completed my summer internship at the Reserve Bank of India, Bengaluru in the Foreign Exchange department! 🎉 These two months have been an incredible journey of learning and growth. During my time there, I worked on a research project titled "Evolution of Foreign Exchange Landscape in India: Historical Analysis and Future Expectations." This experience has been truly eye-opening, and I'd love to share some of my key takeaways: 1. I now deeply appreciate RBI's intricate structure and how various departments work harmoniously to manage India's monetary policy and foreign exchange reserves. 2. Tracing India's foreign exchange regime from pre-independence to our current managed float system was like piecing together a complex puzzle – each shift had its fascinating rationale. 3. Diving into major events like the 1991 economic crisis, the 2008 global financial meltdown and the recent COVID-19 pandemic gave me a new perspective on how external shocks shape policy. 4. Watching how RBI navigated these challenges using tools like exchange rate adjustments and foreign currency swaps was like seeing economic theory come to life. 5. The most exciting part was exploring potential future directions for India's forex landscape based on historical trends and current global scenarios.
