Last week I attended The Economist - Sustainability Summit in London.  Some key observations I wanted to share with my favourite network 🤗 : -              Deep sector understanding on corporate/sector transition journeys  and challenges remains key.  Various detailed company testimonies were given by leading European 🇪🇺 and US 🇺🇸 companies (Mars, Coca-Cola, BP, Aviva Investors, SAP, International Steel Association, Uber, Orsted, agricultural sector, GM, ITA, Telecom, BMW, Illy coffee, several venture capitalist, personal care products, etc).  Positively struck by the transparency of all their journeys and the honesty when dealing with some challenging questions, but also by the fact that US companies were actively moving in this space, hope the SEC statements of last week don’t break this momentum….Equally struck by the changed business model considerations to face the transition (companies considering more vertically integrated business models). -              All companies exploring their supplier chains much deeper and going so far to demand clear supplier pledges (also connected with scope 3, CBAM) -              Great testimonies of the evolving role of the CSO with the large corporates…from an ‘instigator towards an orchestrator’.   What are the incentives for the CFO to embrace sustainability ?  Testimonies how start-ups are implementing sustainability programs, easier to start early and necessary once they connect/sell to the big corporates. -              Power and challenge of AI and sustainability ; intersting case studies to leverage AI power for electricity grid utilization and approach of Bigtech ; -              Emerging consumer preferences and companies towards green product offering - Partnerships are a MUST -              Deep dive on TNFD 🌏 -              Green ledger initiative to start truely measuring the carbon footprint of your supply chain (not just assess or rely on proxies/averages) As you can notice, this space is moving so fast so I urge everyone involved to keep reading and attending industry leading conferences around the topic.   Grateful to have spent 3days at this sustainability leading conference. #econsustainability

There is a need for greater collaboration between Enterprise Architecture and ESG/Sustainability. They are both building a model of the organisation and overlaying costs (financial / non-financial). We need to include the sustainability factor in architecture (solution and enterprise) decision making.
