I could've started a Consulting/TedX Club in college. - But, I chickened out. I could've applied to big-name firms for summer internships. - self-rejected thinking they only wanted SRCC students. I could've committed to one society instead of spreading myself across 5. - Didn't feel good enough to cut just one. I could've made an effort to make friends during college. - blamed the lockdown. Yeah, I could've done all that stuff, but I didn't. WHY? I bailed without even giving it a shot. I'm not the one to preach consistency or boast about major achievements. Because, let's face it, I don't have any. But I did learn a thing or two. "Trust in yourself." Right now - No one's started a Consulting/TedX Club yet. (if you're from ARSD, step up!) My classmates got those summer internships. The difference between them and me? They APPLIED, at least. I dropped out of all those societies because I couldn't manage. I could've had some epic memories sticking with just one. I've got 0 friends from college (except for Parleen Ranhotra , of course). So, if you're not sure what move to make, TAKE THAT LEAP. Worst case - you get a rejection. Best case - you're not the one sharing this story. P.S. - Ever look back and think, "Man, I should've just gone for it"?

As someone who loves growth and opportunities that drive me towards growth, summer internships have been my thing for a while. I believe they are a great opportunity to work on real-life projects, contribute to actual work, network with advanced professionals, and even help figure out if the chosen path is something you want to pursue. This is what drew me to apply to ARM this year. ARM has a summer internship program like many other companies, but what sets ARM apart is how structured it is. It is known as the AYTP program, currently coordinated by Chioma Ekwenem, and it has been running for years, producing many successful alumni. AYTP is dedicated to the growth of its interns, with weekly knowledge-sharing sessions, fun activities like games, and conversations with alumni. The program is divided into two phases: the first phase involves working on a case study, and the second phase is hands-on work experience. In the first phase, my team and I were tasked with understanding ARM's processes and proposing an AI-driven solution to optimize one of them. With the support of our mentors, Aminat Taiwo-Ashafa, Iyiosa Ediagbonya, Olaitan Daniel Taiwo, Phoebe Ohiembor, David Ogunmuyiwa, PMP®, CBAP®, Ezekiel Solomon and supervising mentor Abiola ITAKPE, SA, SPHRi, ACIPMN, MBA, we conducted interviews across various units at ARM to gather insights and came up with a solution that earned us the position of first runner-up in the final presentation. For the second phase, I chose to work with the ARM Securities Research team. As someone with a computing background, this was a significant exposure to a different field. My team members, including Lutfullahi Aderibigbe , Callista Chileke (who is an AYTP Alumnus), Oyinkansola Aregbesola, Ameerat K. Adamu and others, were incredibly helpful, making the experience more about learning than just completing tasks. To my fellow ex-interns, Bushrah Adebayo, Tolulope Ajao, Fatimat-Zakiyyah Raji, Obey John, Fikayo Akinola, Osamudiame Ayanru, Qudus Abolade, Otolorin Yekinni AAT, Ifeoluwa Oduwaiye, Agunbiade-Sulaimon Hamed and my honorable lead, Omolola Babatola It was an absolute pleasure working with you all. I’d do this again with you guys in a heartbeat!

Man, the next generation is truly remarkable! Overseeing the internship program at Ziplyne for 6 years has been an incredible journey and here is our cohort for 2024! Each year, I've witnessed talent and dedication surpassing the last. At Ziplyne, we prioritize hard work, determination, and excellent communication/passion in selecting our interns. Our summer session is in full swing, promising exciting outcomes ahead. Selfishly, it's to keep Ziplyne relevant across ages/generations. We are building a product that is timeless in my mind/vision. And as a byproduct of this work, these interns become ambassadors, engaging their networks and spreading the word about Ziplyne whether it is at the gym, in school, at family gatherings, etc. So the more time & energy you invest in them there is an actual social sense of return. To be honest, the gratification in running this program comes from hearing Parents who text or call me to personally share appreciation for the opportunity and are eager to attend demo days, supporting their child's growth and our initiatives. One thing I over emphasize during the 3 month internship, is to make sure that our interns can actually articulate and explain what it is we do, and how their projects play a role in our growth. Equipping our future generation to communicate and articulate what Ziplyne does for their future employer interviews is a high priority and something I take very seriously. To ensure this, we include our HR team and provide a resume workshop and LinkedIn recommendations for all of our interns to give them a foundation for their futures. The truth is we are the first point on their professional resumes, and I take that representation as the biggest responsibility/opportunity. #NextGeneration #InternshipProgram #Ziplyne #Talent #Dedication
