🔽 Major brands are cutting advertising costs on TikTok amid a possible ban in the US With TikTok's likely U.S. ban looming, which could take effect in January 2025, advertisers are already starting to consider other options. Updated data from MediaRadar shows overall ad spending on TikTok fell in April and May. Adweek reports this. The platform's user growth, especially among young people, has also stalled, according to data provided by five sources. 🕯 Four of the top ten advertisers on TikTok reduced their spending in April compared to the previous month. These include Target (down 30%), DoorDash (down 25%), Bayer (20%) and Procter & Gamble (10%). “Until all users leave or are forced to leave by a ban, there is too much attention on TikTok to ignore,” said the chief executive of creative agency ADWEEK. Since the announcement of the possible ban, some brands have shifted their focus from raising brand awareness to more results-oriented goals. ℹ️ If TikTok does exit the US market, brands will be forced to look for other advertising platforms. ℹ️ The impact of Meta algorithmic targeting on advertising distribution: test The study showed how important our targeting settings are in the era of programmatic ad delivery Meta. A test conducted by John Loomer revealed how Meta allocates advertising to remarketing and prospecting audiences using algorithms.  Context Previously, targeting was simple and based on custom audiences, lookalike audiences, and granular targeting. But with the introduction of Advantage+, algorithms began to play a bigger role, expanding audiences and automating the process.  Test Loomer tested three targeting options: Advantage+ without prompts, with prompts, and original audiences with Advantage Custom Audience enabled. As a result, it turned out that: 1️⃣ Advantage+ spent 35.4% of its budget on remarketing without prompting. 2️⃣ Advantage+ with tips – 32.4% of the budget. 3️⃣ Original audiences – 26.4% of the budget.  Conclusion The main conclusion is that the distribution of advertising between remarketing audiences and new audiences is almost independent of the chosen approach. It can be accessed through the "Compare Attribution Settings" menu in Ads Manager. Basic definitions: 🔹 All conversions: all conversions after interaction with advertising are taken into account. 🔹 First conversion: only the first conversion is taken into account.
