The results are in! Giving Circles have profound impacts on the people who participant and the communities they represent and give back to. Some of my favorite takeaways from the "In Abundance" Report: --Collective giving is actively shifting the narrative around who is considered a “philanthropist.” --Collective giving groups center equity when making funding decisions. --Collective giving improves members’ health, wellness, and agency. --Collective giving spurs deeper levels of civic engagement.
✨ NEW COLLECTIVE GIVING RESEARCH! ✨ It's finally here! Why is Collective Giving so powerful? A new research paper demonstrates that Giving Circles have a profound impact on the people who participant and the communities they represent and give back to. Specifically: * Collective giving is changing what counts as giving by harnessing all of the 5T's - Time, Talent, Treasure, Testimony and Ties * Human connection is one of the key reasons why collective giving is so powerful as the majority of participants join to meet people with similar values. * The majority of giving circles are LOCAL - demonstrating the power of place based giving * Collective giving is overwhelmingly led by women * Collective giving is based on and expands democracy as members decide on where funds are awarded Our women's giving circle Impact100 Wakatipu is a wonderful example of the power of collective giving in our community. If you would like to know more, there are 3 events in April (details on their website) or drop them a message at impact100@wakatipucommunityfoundation.org #startyourgivingjourney #collectivegiving #community #bettertogether #impact100

❓ What are the drivers of great grantee experiences? This was just one of the questions Center for Effective Philanthropy explored in its recent study of grantee perspectives on intermediary funders. The research “… suggests that the form of the granting institution — whether an intermediary or not — is not the primary driver of the grantee experience.” For years, Community Partners has served as an intermediary designing, building, and managing regional and national grantmaking initiatives. We do this work on behalf of values-aligned funders and in the service of amplifying community leadership and impact. Based on what we’ve seen and designed, here’s what DOES make a difference in grantee experiences (and outcomes): ⭐ TRUST that grantee organizations know what their communities need ⭐ ACCESS to support throughout the grantmaking process ⭐ KNOWLEDGE of grantee challenges and then making the grant program responsive to those needs ⭐ EQUITY LENS and a commitment to removing barriers and biases In the last five years alone, Community Partners has helped public agencies and private foundations reinvest more than $140 million back into communities. And we’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact these grantees are making on issues ranging from climate justice to health equity. We’re proud to leverage our role as an intermediary. And we’re grateful to organizations like CEP for centering grantee voices and fostering dialogue about intermediaries and impact. We LOVE collective giving - and this new report shows that a very, very many of you do too!! The latest landscape study of collective giving, In Abundance, shows that participation in collective giving has grown to 4,000 groups contributing over $3.1 billion — more than doubling its impact in seven years. This not only fuels greater civic engagement but also fosters improved mental well-being while bridging political divides. 1. Collective giving is democratizing and diversifying philanthropy. 2. Collective giving greatly expands what gets funded. 3. Collective giving pushes the bounds of how philanthropy is practiced. 4. Collective giving deeply impacts members themselves. 5. Collective giving is a catalyst for social cohesion and change. #GivingCircles #Philanthropy #SWWashington

New data just dropped! We collected and analyzed data from 59 nonprofit organizations to offer a comprehensive view of active donors in Puerto Rico for the years 2022-2023. This report focuses on the number of active donor entities, providing a comparative analysis between the years 2022 and 2023, as well as examining donor recurrence. It is segmented by donor category, geographical funding origin, and by the specific years mentioned. Our comprehensive analysis demonstrates the trends and changes in the philanthropic sector, empowering funders with the knowledge to make informed decisions and maximize their impact through strategic actions. At FiPR, we aim to facilitate data connection between donors and nonprofit organizations to promote greater transparency and alignment in the social ecosystem. PAX sapiens’ mission is to prevent predictable global catastrophes. We work to foster collective coordination for a more peaceful world. We focus on filling gaps by catalyzing coordination and collective action across the Philanthropic, Private, and Public sectors [P^3]. The PAX P^3 methodology galvanizes and connects philanthropy to the public and private sectors by addressing identified gaps in resources, capacities, and social functions. Our tools are grantmaking and direct engagement in programs that advance closer collaboration among leaders across the three sectors. #PAXP3 #publicprivatephilanthropy # #PhilanthropicLeaders #GrantmakingStrategy #GlobalCoordination

How can philanthropy shift from good intentions to real, transformative support? Our latest animation sheds light on the often unseen challenges that grassroots organizations face when seeking support from philanthropic institutions. Funders must shift their practices to meet grassroots movements where they’re at, without turning movements into technical and bureaucratic projects. What practices is your organization implementing?
