Exciting news for the SEAMLESS Project! A #f2f workshop regarding the planning of the project’s Norther European Use Case, took place in Kongsberg Maritime’s offices located in Lysaker, Oslo in Norway. The meeting was attended by our colleagues Håvard Nordahl, Lars Andreas Lien Wennersberg, Morten Ingebretsen, Jan Karsten, Kari Hollmén, and Vassilis Podimatas. The Northern European Demonstration Use Case (or DUC1) of SEAMLESS Project is one of the two physical demos the project aims to launch. Its scope entails the highlight of low-attention autonomous fleet operations, automated stowage planning and simulated cargo handling, while providing connection to the hinterland and logistical supply chain support and overview through the integrated offering of #ModalNET. It also can help fleet owners to prioritize the retrofitting of poorly rated vehicles in their respective fleets to improve visibility and reduce the size of their blind zones.

I am grateful to be a part of this incredible platform that allows us to share stories from within the industry. Over the past 25 years, I have had the privilege of meeting numerous remarkable individuals who have become lifelong friends. Together, we share a passion for our industry and a relentless drive to push boundaries and foster innovation. I would like to extend my gratitude to Trailer magazine and Robert Smedley engineers for creating this platform that allows us to come together. The transport industry is in a constant state of evolution, and Australia presents its own unique set of challenges. We cannot rely on "boxed" solutions, as our country's size and specific requirements bring about a multitude of obstacles when it comes to adopting new technologies. Unlike other regions, we don't have a global precedence due to our distinct vehicle configurations. Therefore, it falls upon us to challenge the status quo, drive change, facilitate adaptation, and promote education. As an industry, we must continue to move forward, leveraging our diversification to our advantage. We need to seek out and implement solutions that not only address the challenges we face but also add value to our operations. It is through collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to progress that we can pave the way for a thriving and sustainable future in the transport industry. From the outset, we’ve been clear that our strategy is to keep the design of our first electric aircraft, Midnight, as simple as possible while delivering industry-leading performance balanced with safety. We are accomplishing this by partnering with what we believe to be the best suppliers in the aerospace industry, rather than take on the cost and risk of vertically integrating every aspect of a novel aircraft program. This capital-light strategy continues to pay dividends that are more clear today than ever, as we continue to make rapid progress towards commercializing electric aviation. Here are the key highlights from our Q1'24: ✈️ Closing In On Transition Flight Milestone | In Q1, we flew 100+ flights, keeping us on track to exceed our goal of 400 flights this year. Midnight is closing in on its transition milestone, meaning it would take off vertically, accelerate until it transitions from thrust-born to wing-borne flight and then land again vertically. ✅ Key Systems Pass Rigorous Testing | We're rigorously testing Midnight's systems and components to ensure flight safety for upcoming piloted flights later this year and to support our ongoing FAA certification program. #Durapower is proud to power part of PSA Singapore’s Tuas Port’s Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) fleet. A key component of the world’s first fully automated and digitalized port is the use of AGVs to optimise the operational flow of containers between the wharf and yard. Cutting emissions by almost half, the electric AGV fleet is also key in helping Tuas Port to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. The success of major port operations is dependent on the ability for ports to efficiently move containers to their assigned locations in support of busy vessel schedules. Switching from operations dependent on fossil-fuel powered, human-driven vehicles to automated operations can enhance operations efficiency and sustainability. Codognotto believes C-ITS services are vital for enabling effective data exchange through wireless communication technologies among components and actors in the transport system, often between vehicles (vehicle-to-vehicle, or V2V) or between vehicles and infrastructure (vehicle-to-infrastructure, or V2I). This evolutionary and holistic process aims to 𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆. We are currently adopting this technology by connecting our trucks with major service providers at the EU level.
