I know it may sound as if I became a CZ promoter recently, but I simply have to share this one too. 🙂 Did you know that Prague has the second best public transportation system in the world? Right after Berlin, and before other iconic cities such as Tokyo or Copenhagen! According to a comprehensive survey, a full 96 percent of Prague locals said "their city was easy to get around by public transport." Well done once again, Prague! :) #publictransport #Prague #sourcewell https://lnkd.in/gQ8gFgze

#Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, the longest station name in the world 🚉 Here's what makes this name a fascinating piece of cultural heritage: 📚 History The name of the Welsh village where the station is situated was extended in the 19th century, partly to attract tourists and make the station a talking point among travelers. 🏞️ Rail services A two-hour weekday service is available in each direction. The train stops at the station upon request. 💡 Did You Know? The station's platforms are very short, about 37 meters. Due to this limitation, passengers are allowed to board the train only via one door (except for BR classes 150/2 and 153). _ _ _ 👍 Like if you find value, re-post ♻️, and follow for more interesting tech, and innovation insights.

Yesterday marked the 23rd anniversary of my family's relocation from Hong Kong to Auckland, and it's remarkable how much the contrast in public transport systems between the two cities stands out to me. In Hong Kong, the transportation options were seemingly boundless. Planning a hike was as simple as meeting friends at the end of an MTR line where we would all catch a bus to get to a trail end. The hike would culminate on a deserted beach where we would catch a ferry to get back to a road. We would then figure out where we could go for dinner in this obscure part of Hong Kong none of us had been to before. The city's interconnected network encouraged exploration. Whether it was navigating a series of escalators down to Central, leisurely riding a tram to soak in the city's sights, or catching a ride with a minibus driver who channeled their inner Schumacher, the possibilities were endless. Reflecting on this stark contrast brings to light the significance of robust public and active transport systems. Not only do they contribute to a healthier environment by reducing emissions and improving air quality, particularly in densely populated areas, but they also infuse cities with vitality and connectivity. During my daily walk to work from Ponsonby to Queen St, I'm reminded of the vibrancy that well-designed transport infrastructure brings. Each day presents an opportunity to discover something new, whether it's a hidden gem along the route or familiar faces at the local coffee shop. It's these moments of connection and exploration that underscore the importance of investing in sustainable and accessible transportation options for the well-being of our cities and communities. I have hope for New Zealand still. #hopeful #publictransport #activetransport #vibrantcities
