Great news! Hong Kong has regained its cherished ranking as the world's freest economy. The Economic Freedom of the World 2024 Annual Report by Canada-based Fraser Institute (Oct 16) ranks Hong Kong No.1 among 165 economies around the world, up one place from last year. Among the areas of assessment, Hong Kong ranks top for "Freedom to trade internationally" and "Regulation" and third for "Sound money". The Hong Kong SAR Government said that "Hong Kong has fully leveraged the advantages of a free market, and maintained a free, open, effective and fair business environment. [HONG KONG AND EUROPE IN THE SPOTLIGHT] Great Outdoors: Hong Kong's Mok Min Cave meets Poland's Hel Peninsula beach Hong Kong's back garden Sai Kung is known for its diverse nature. Subtropical beaches meet stony cliffs. Mok Min Cave is reachable after a short hike from Pak Lap Wan, one of Sai Kung's stunning beaches. The cave is a sea arch, which should be visited during the low tide.  Poland's Hel peninsula is located a 1.5-hour car ride from Gdańsk and separates the bay of Gdańsk from the Baltic Sea. The small village of Hel is the perfect starting point for long beach walks, cycling tours or windsurfing sessions at Poland's coastline. [HONG KONG AND EUROPE IN THE SPOTLIGHT] Great Outdoors: Hong Kong's Tai Po Kau Forest meets Hungary's Megyer-hegy Tarn in the Zemplén Mountains Tai Po Kau, also known as Hong Kong's Pine Garden, is an oasis for wildlife. The area was a forest originally, but in the 1920s, the trees were gone. In 1926, the government started reforestation and created the Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve, which is not only home to a variety of wildlife, but also an oasis for hiking and bird fans. Different colour-coded trails enable hikers to control the difficulty and level of the hike. The Megyer-hegy Tran, is a volcano lake located in Hungary's Zemplén Mountains and surrounded by forests. The lake on the volcano is a relict of the region's past mining history and was crowned as one of the most beautiful nature wonders of Hungary today.
